My Boyfriend and I recently checked in at the Travelodge in Sydney and despite booking early through an internet booking service, the room we recieved was small, poky, stank of smoke and had two single beds...clearly not what we had booked for our romantic holiday away!! We were informed that because we booked through an internet booking company and that rooms were based on availability, that we were the lowest priortiy, so as the hotel booked up, we kept getting bounced to the worst room - shame we weren't informed though before we drove 9 hours. If these hotels are going to work together with online booking companies they must ensure customer service is not compromised, ours clearly was...we booked straight out of the stinking place!

Upon check-in (at 3pm), I was given one of the worst rooms between the lift and the "plant room". Without touching the room, I went straight back to reception to request a change. Unfortunately, once you have been given your room, THAT'S IT - NO CHANGES ALLOWED. A sleepless night followed with the lift appratus whirring continuously and the plant room humming. Be very careful if you choose to stay here - the staff at the counter seemed content to head off a legitimate request to improve the enjoyment of the stay if it means they have to help you. This is really a hotel for the most budget of travellers, and the most heaviest of sleepers.

Would definitely stay here again If you plan to take a tour of Sydney Harbour, use the Sydney Ferry service instead of a private tour company. They are part of the Sydney Transit System, and if you by the all day - all zone pass, you have unlimited use of the ferries, and all buses and subway trains.

Good value and location Clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced. Perfect for a stop-over on the way to Tasmania to get refreshed after the long international flight. Great location--close to shops and restaurants as well as public transportation.

OK because of location otherwise no Skip the wildlife zoo next to the Aquarium if you are going to Tarango Zoo. Tarango is much better and if you can get the VIP zookeeper Wild Australia tour because you can go into the animal enclosures to get up close and personal with the Australian wildlife and even feed a few. Splurge on dinner in the Skytower to get a beautiful view of the city at night. Featherdale Wildlife reserve has the best opportunity for interaction with the kangaroos, wallabies, emus and even the koalas.
