good Good hotel. Good reasonable meals at pub. Location is very central and reasonable. Room was small however, very clean and comfortable.

The location was fantastic with the central station, the monorail and the market city were within walking distance. However, the buffet breakfast was a bit below expectation. The room is clean but the taps were leaky and the heater was not always working, which makes the room quite cold in the winter. Overall, the staff was quite helpful and friendly and I might consider staying there again for its excellent location (but not in the winter!).

Excellent location. Just behind Chinatown and Peddy Market. Few mins walk to Central station to international airport. Lot of shopping around this area.

Rooms a bit small, with not much space to move around. No where to put toiletries in bathroom. Room in general is however very clean and well maintained. Reception staff very helpful. Rooms well maintained. Right in Central close to shops and eating houses. For a hotel situated right in the city centre, I hardly could hear noise from the traffic, especially in the evening. For those who want to be close to the shopping centres such as Victoria Gallery, Pitts on the Street, George Street, Sydney Central Shopping Mall etc and Asian foods and restaurants including China Town.

Can be remarkably quiet To add a few things. I didn't query the desk staff since I knew my way around Sydney. But they checked me in at 9am without question after the endless flight so points for that. Many rooms overlook an interior covered atrium so are always quiet. But the walls are thin, you can hear next door. Breakfast is expensive compared to options a couple of blocks away. Has a fitness center that I didn't use. Hot water in the good shower. Closer to U. Sydney than downtown, just around corner from Central station and airport rail link. Overall, good value in an expensive city.

Good Location, Poor Service and Amenities The location was the only good thing about this hotel. I was surprised how rude and unhelpful the desk staff was because I had read other reviews before booking that the staff was helpful and friendly. My first night the desk would not book a taxi for me as I requested. The second day I inquired about the key for the room safe. They said it was $3 per day to get the key - ridiculous. Internet cost an arm and a leg, so I never even tried to use it. I was put in what appeared to be a handicapped room. The bathroom was quite literally a "bath room" meaning it was one small room with a toilet, shower and sink, all sharing a common floor with a hole in the floor for a drain. There was no shower stall or shower curtain, just a shower head next to the toilet. The water was tepid at best, never hot. Furnishings and carpet were beat. Just to give you an idea of the clientele, I also found an old porn magazine in my room that the maidstaff had apparently missed seeing when they cleaned the room. Oh and further, don't expect to sleep at the "Great" Southern Hotel - there are no "Do Not Disturb" signs and the maid will be banging at your door at 7:30 a.m. or earlier each day. Overall, quite a dump.

Location is the best for this hotel, its clean and comfortable given the price. Its in the CBD, very near central station but there is no free parking and if you drive, you have to pay at least 18 bucks for an overnight parking at nearby parking facilities. Hotel parking 25 bucks a night even for guest.
