I did not get the room I reserved and the hotel staff could have cared less - and to make matters worse, I was never told I wasn't getting the room I requested until after I checked in. If I had known I would have changed hotels. Service was brutal. I travel a lot and have never written a negative review - until today.

Excellent accommodations, spacious, clean, comfortable, quiet, and friendly service. We have never been disappointed in a Marriott hotel. We appreciated the laundry facilities. The pool was outside and cold. Would have liked a less expensive, less formal restaurant.

This is a great hotel. The location is great - right by Hyde Park and within walking distance to many shops/restaurants. Rooms are spacious. There is an outdoor pool with great views. The staff is friendly. Highly recommend the hotel.

Great Choice! Also, because of good wages in Australia, you don't have to tip. I tried leaving $5 for the maid, twice, and she never took it. In vegas I would tip, regardless of the terrible service, just so they never steal anything.

I stayed here during Mardi Gras week 2004. Great service and great location, especially if you want to be in the middle of great bars and shops. Management staff tend to be very good but during my stay they charged me for charges that were not mine. I told them to remove them off my bill. They did, and when I got back to U.S. they charged me behind my back. It took more than two months to get credited for these fraudulent charges but a call to Marriott's executive offices in Washington, DC. That was the only negative thing about my stay. I would check your bill carefully before checking out.

This hotel is not built as many here are for harbour views, although there are some from upper floors on the back. Views from the front over Hyde Park are very nice, however. It's ideally placed close to interesting bars, restaurants (especially gay ones), and closer than most major hotels to the Eastern suburbs and neighborhoods like Woolhara, Rose Bay, etc.

Ask for a view of the park and a room on a higher floor. This hotel offered great service, reasonable prices and convenience to the shopping district, museums and easy access to trains. Nice cafes and restaurants in the area and I believe that Hyde Park is the prettiest park in the city. If you are not going to be in the Rocks or overlooking the Harbor, I think this is a great place to be. There was a microwave, fridge and coffee/tea in room so we had breakfast there ourselves each morning. Great happy hour in the bar. For the price we paid (AU$165), this was a 5.
