I was quite shocked after checking into my room. The room had one bed, with just enough room to walk around the three sides of it. The walls in the entire hotel are painted gray and the lighting is poor. Very dreary. And no lift. After staying...

I liked the mirrored hallway! The hotel oozes style which is remarkable when taking into consideration how small the space is.

The hotel is in a perfect location, not far from King's Cross and a few blocks from trendy Oxford street. Very convenient! The staff was friendly. There is no elevator, but the staff will help you with your bags if needed. The standard rooms are fairly small, but the spacious walk-in closet keeps your luggage out of the living area. Nice bathroom! I would most DEFINITELY stay at the Kirketon Hotel on my next visit to Sydney. And that can't be soon enough. It's a lovely city!

Enormously noisy hotel with very small rooms. Nicely decorated and good use of space but totally overpriced.

All Review Photos We decided to break the routine and do something different, just to try and live our city as tourists at least once. We choose The Kirketon because my parents stayed there when they came over to visit, and they found themselves...

We stayed at the Kirketon Hotel for 6 nights in November, 2007. We were disappointed in the location (near King's Cross) and appalled by the lack of amenities in the room. There was not even a chair to sit in and the window was painted over. No art work whatsoever. Stark to the point of depressing. We avoided returning to our room to relax because there was no place to sit and it felt like a cell. Calling this room deluxe is a sad misuse of English. There was a lot of noise in the hallway outside our room and one night a loud, raucous disturbance directly outside our door from 2:00 to 4:00 AM. Calls to the front desk did no good--we were told that there was a bar on our floor (3rd) and that she could do nothing about it. It was frightening and we did not dare open the door. In the morning, someone at the front desk explained that a bar patron had taken his party up to the third floor to carry on with the revelry. If we could have gotten our money back and stayed ANYWHERE else, we would have! We felt locked into this reservation and regretted it very, very much. John and Bev Bandstra

This hotel was a real disappointment. We booked a "fancier" hotel for our 10 year anniversary, and were really disappointed. They don't even have a toilet for use, or a place where you can change when you arrive if your room isn't ready. We'd just had an overnight flight to Australia, and wanted to freshen up and change into shorts as it was such a lovely day already (at 7 or 8am). They sent us down the road just to be able to carry out what ought to have been a simple task! I couldn't believe it. The reception and communal hallways are painted black and feel very dark and unwelcoming. Definitely not worth the 120 pounds plus price-tag. The room was nice enough, but the hotel did not live up to expectations, sadly. I wouldn't rush to go back again, or to recommend it to others.

Nice staff, clean room but extremely small. Only stairs so people with difficulties would have a problem. Cold shower last morning there.

Excellent location but the old building is very noisy from other guests at night. Noise travels in the corridors too easily. The hotel is overpriced for the size of the room and the poorly designed bathroom. Design features are elegant but design should not be at the cost of functionality.
