While the name hints at it Unilodge we were not aware till we got there that this was university lodging as well.

We were originally booked in for just one night, but due to a change of plan, opted for an additional 2. We were given a preferential rate as we were already staying there. The rooms were big and clean, with facilities such as a microwave and toaster in addition to the usual kettle etc. The bathroom was a little strange, just a swing door rather than a lockable (or even shuttable!) one but that was OK, if a little lacking in privacy! The only other strange thing was that the internal rooms such as ours looked out onto what looked like a prison landing! Very bizarre but you get used to it. Lots of students but not at all noisy. Think we were noisier than they were! There are good laundry facilities too and a TV lounge. The reception area looks like a 4 or 5 star hotel, and there is an adjoining cafe which serves breakfast. Generally a very pleasant place to stay.

For the cost and our personal requirements the room was satisfactory, although the location of the room at the back of the hotel was a surprise and inconvenient for the transportation of our luggage up and down 3/4 steps.

Good service and is not hard on your wallet. Triple room came with a bunk and a double bed and was considerably quite big. Very happy with everything and was more than I had expected though the common kitchen lacked pans to cook anything.

Check the door lock system. Our room lock could be pushed open with force.

It’s basically a (temporally) student hotel accommodation, but also good for budget travelers. It was a quit place, 15 minutes walk from Darling Harbor, close to the train station and easy bus to city centre. Shops and food facilities are available in the area. My room had all the basics including an option for internet connection (AUD 20,- for 120 MB, other options possible). There is also the option for an airport bus connection for AUD 12. General I am positive in relation to the price. "
