Be prepared for TINY quarters. Booked a double bed and got 2 singles shoved together in a room no bigger than the bed. Small sink behind the door and closet not big enough for our luggage. Sheets had not been changed. Could touch the walls with arms outstretched. Went for cheap and that's what we got. Location is excellent though is you're a super bargain hunter and willing to share a shower and toilet with strangers, then this is for you.

Efficient Rooms - small but work really well. Think of a modern dorm room and a cost effective NYC price. If you are looking for a roomie and gracious hotel room - not your scene at The Pod. The location is beyond wonderful and quiet street in Midtown. The truly HUGE downfall is the standoffish and very unhelpful staff. It has not been an experience of "make the client feel welcome". Truly a one of a kind unfriendly staff that I have not come across in ages.

Great Hotel This is a great hotel for the budget minded traveler. It does NOT come across this way though in presentation! The hotel has a hip, new vibe that is carried through in every detail and makes it that much more enjoyable. The rooms are tiny, but at the same time, have every amenity needed without wasting space. It is also a great location, within walking distance to almost all of Midtown (and beyond). It's also only a short walk to the subway. Highly recommend for 20-something travelers or those traveling without children.

The web site pulls no punches on the room size / SMALL. I was in town over the weekend with out my family so I did not need the room or frills. I opted for the smallest POD (apptly named) without bath or toilet in the room. The room was small, but hay it is NYC you should not be in your room and at 139 a night for this location you can't go wrong.

Several guidebooks mentioned the Pickwick Arms as a great budget hotel, so we decided to give it a try. We ended up being sorely disappointed. First of all, we had to wait to be checked in because the staff were busy dealing with an unsavory character who apparently walked in off the street and was being very belligerent. That gave us an uneasy feeling right off the bat, but we ignored it because we figured it wasn't the hotel's fault.

If you're like me, you wait till the last minute. I must say it is for a young crowd only. Im a college student and everytime I fly up to NY, I stay there because the location is impecable. You are literally walking distance from Rockafellar Plaza, Time Square, 5th Avenue, etc. I am a fan of their prices and location. But think Dorm'. Thin walls, always wear flipflops to shower, and buy some cheap bed sheets that you can use for the stay and just leave in the trash. Cuz they dont have sheets and pillow, its weird i know, but it works trust me. Besides, I was there only to sleep anyways! Great little Nook!

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. I had a great little room, perfect for my solo Christmas shopping trip. The room was really clean and tidy. It had funky decor and great touches like an ipod dock. The shared bathroom was no hassle either as it always was free when I needed it and the light above the door indicated whether it was vacant or not. The hotel was just a short walk from 5th Avenue and there are lots of places to grab breakfast nearby. All in all a great place to stay in NY.

CANT WAIT TO STAY AT THE PICKWICK ARMS NEXT TIME WE VISIT NEW YORK. THE PLACE IS IN SUCH A GREAT LOCATION. YOU CAN ACTUALLY WALK TO CENTRAL PARK, THE THEATER DISTRICT, SHOPPING ON FIFTH AVE, THERES A NAIL SALON RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET. THE BEDS WERE CLEAN, EUROPEAN STYLE ROOM. BUT GOOD ENOUGH IF DONT PLAN ON STAYING IN YOUR ROOM. THE STAFF WAS VERY NICE. I ENJOYED IT. PERFECT NIGHT SLEEP. WOULD RECOMMEND IT IF YOURE LOOKING FOR A BUDGET STAY IN A NICE PART OF NEW YORK, YOU CANT BEAT IT.

Given the good price and the central location, the rooms are awful. I've never seen such a small room: there was barely space for the bed and when sitting on the toilet you couldn't comfortably place your feet.

I love The Pod! For the budget traveler, don't be ut off by the shared bathrooms- they are always available, very clean and beautifully designed with Carrara marble walls and Duravit fixtures.
