Our favorite NYC Hotel so far Near Zabar's which is a deli market with amazing choices, great for take out, or just browsing.

This was our first visit to New York and was surprised at the cost of hotels. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our 7 day stay at The Lucerne. We had an outside room which was rather noisy. Comfortable bed. The best thing about the hotel is the location, one block to the subways, close to Central Park and the River. We enjoyed the neighborhood and had no trouble finding wonderful restaurants. Try the Silk Road Palace on Amsterdam. Great food, free wine and low prices. We ate breakfast at the Nice Martin and were disappointed in the service and food. We walked everywhere or took the subway so it didn't matter that we were not near Time Square. We wanted to be in more of a neighborhood. Front desk personnel were helpful with any directions or service needed. Would highly recommend this hotel.

It was luxurious and the staff were friendly and cordial. The hotel was very clean and well furnished. When I walked into the room, I flopped onto the bed and screamed inside.

A real gem! I don't travel to New York a lot (although this trip made me eager to,) but I followed a traveler's guide suggestion and tipped essential people (doormen, bellhops, taxi drivers, etc.) the amounts suggested in the literature, and it really brought out the best in those people on whom I was relying. In the grand scheme, the tips added up to a nominal amount compared to the peace of mind they secured for me. $5 here and there went a long way toward making my family's stay a nice one.

My husband and I spent our 30th Wedding Anniversary in New York City, my husband did the research as to where to stay while in NYC and he picked The Lucerne, i'm glad he did, we enjoyed our visit to NYC and we plan on coming back for another visit in the future and plan on staying at The Lucerne, the staff and everyone else took very good care of us. Thank you! The Arthurs

We are a family of three... two adults and a 12 year old. We stayed at The Lucerne for seven days. Our stay was perfect. The accommodations were spacious, quiet, clean and lovely. The hotel is on the residential Upper West Side. We had an end room on the 5th floor. The retaurant, Nice Matin, is excellent and the neighborhood is filled with good restaurants. The subway entrance is just a block away. Central Park and the Natural History Museum are just two blocks away! We would not consider staying any where else. The staff was gracious and met all of our minor requests with ease.

Might stay there again However the hotel needs it's own restaurant.

I stayed at The Lucerne when I was a contestant on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" (where I would have won $125,000 if I had the guts to go with my first instinct). This was my first trip to New York City, and a "greener" tourist you probably won't find.

I love this hotel. I have stayed here several times over the years. The staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are comfortable, nicely appointed, and very clean. The hotel is quiet on the upper floors I have stayed in and I had a view of the river on some of my visits. I was in an oversize room by NYC standards on every visit except one when the room size was average. The location is fantastic. There is a red line subway stop one block from the hotel. Central Park is just 3 blocks away and the Museum of Natural History is 3 blocks. There are several nice restaurants within walking distance. The hotel is one block from Zabar's, a must for taking home coffee and other wonderful treats. All in all, a great place to stay on the Upper West Side.

Great family choice Just returned from 3 days in New Yrok over New Year . The Lucerne was a very good choice for us - 2 adults with 2 children aged 8 and 10. Decent sized room for New York City with two double beds, flat screen TV, excellent location on Upper West side- nice area with plenty of restaurants etc - v near Natural history museum and subway too. Clean, well equipped bedroom and bathroom, hotel all decked out for Christmas, champagne (well, sparkling wine) for guests on New Year's Eve in lobby, helpful service. Attached to inviting French style cafe/brasserie next door, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Would really recommend the Lucerne - we were delighted with our choice.
