My mother, 11 yr-old cousin, and I spent 4 wonderful nights at The Gem. The rooms were nicely decorated and very clean. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The hotel is in walking distance of Broadway, The Empire State Bldg, Penn Station, Time Square and more. My only minor complaint is that I the room needed a mirror other than the one in the bathroom. I highly recommend The Gem and I would stay there again and again and again and again...

International chain. Clean. Friendly. Price/performance not very good. Room is quite small, no fridge. Had smoke smell despite being non-smoking hotel.

Excellent Hotel The Gem Hotel is in a great location in midtown manhattan, literally a 15min walk to time square & the empire state building. The room was very clean & in good condition. The room was quite small but you dont go to new york to spend your time in your room! I would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to explore new york & see the sights.

My overall review is absolutely favourable and I would definitely recommend this hotel if you don't want to spend too much but don't want to end up in a dirty, uncomfortable place.

Spotless, efficient, great no frills hotel Very clean, friendly staff, super close to Javits Center. The TV remote was a bit tempremental, but the flat screen TV was cool. Wish it had Internet built in to the TV; you must bring your own laptop to be online. I would go back again.

Too small The room had no place to put anything -- no closet, just a small armoire, and no counter space in the bathroom. Also, the only mirror was in the bathroom. The room itself was TINY -- just enough space to walk around the beds (actually, one bed was right up against the wall). I don't feel that I got what I paid for.

great hotel in heart of manhatten For cheap perfumes and designer bags head to Chinatown, great bargains to be had there. Oh and make sure you haggle with the sellers, they love it!!! and you get an even better bargain!!
