The hotel was nice, service great...paid $900/night and had a leak in the ceiling of my bathroom. Location: pretty far on the east side so be prepared to walk.

The Alex - NYC Having stayed at many hotels in Manhattan, I must say I was totally blown away by The Alex. I had a room with a king size bed with lots of room, great amenities, and very quiet to outside traffic. The Alex's best asset is it's great staff. Every single person who worked there were friendly, courteous and helpful all the time. I would not hesitate to stay here again and again and to recommend this to my friends and family.

The hotel is simply amazing! It was pure luxury staying at the hotel. Everything was 5 star ranging from the views to the bed linen. We loved the hotel so much that it was a struggle leaving the hotel each morning to go sight-seeing! We felt like royalty the whole time we were at the hotel. We got an amazing last minute deal over the internet. Although we received confirmation of the reservation and the rate, when we checked out the hotel advised us the rate was incorrect and charged us the rack rate (which was extrotionate). We made numerous complaints and the over-charge was finally refunded 10 days later (although it should have never been charged in the first place). I would still choose to come back and stay at the hotel despite this incident as the hotel is so fabulous!

Staying at the Alex Very smart hotel. 2 room suite was ideal for my 15 year old son and myself. Well located - 5 minutes walk from Grand Central where we used the subway a lot. Had only breakfast in the hotel restaurant - was very good. Would have thought that the hotel was better than its official 4 stars but perhaps there are some technicalities that it does not meet such as whether the restaurant is its own or next door. Would definitely go back.

During our stay, my fiancee's expensive dental appliance went missing from our room, due to the carelessness of the cleaning staff. When we asked management to help us find it, we were treated with indifference and rudeness. Hotel management offered us no help whatsoever, and no compensation - only lip service and phone numbers that nobody picked up. It took us months and hundreds of dollars to replace the lost item.

Great rooms, convenient location. We had a one-bedroom suite on te 31st floor, and it was very, very nice. Big living room/kitchen, nice-sized bedroom and big bathroom. Bed was extrememly comfortable, and the rooms felt sophisticated. If I had a pied-a-terre in the city, this is what I would want it to be. Great views of the East River and the Chrysler Building. Good location in mid-town for business, and close to the subway. Beware: it is almost impossible to catch an uptown cab from here between 4:30 and 7:30 pm.

Easter Bliss Go see Altar Boyz--you won't stop laughing. Plus, tickets are relatively cheap. Have dinner near the area in "restaurant row" on 46th street between 8th and 9th avenue. Yum Yum Bangkok is yum-yum.

Service is excellent and cheerfully provided. The rooms have better audio/visual equipment than I have at home. Broadband access is available in rooms and there is a computer center with computers and printers in the hotel. The Mid-Town location is great. Concierge service is provided and is very helpful. I will make this my NYC headquarters whenever I am in town.
