This is a truly horrible hotel. The staff are rudest I have ever met and can't be bothered with their customers. The bellboys are none existent, even if you hold out money to offer a tip. They spent more time chatting with the dubious looking women that hang outside the hotel morning, noon and night. I later found out from the owner of a local pub that these women are prostitutes! So it seems the bellboys make more money out of procuring prostitutes for their clients rather than helping hotel residents with their luggage. As a young woman I found this hotel very threatening and incredibly depressing. I have stayed in nicer hostels when backpacking. The hotel rooms, though clean haven't been modernised for at least 10 years. They are dark, dank and depressing. The shower faucet didn't work and no one came to fix it despite three phone calls to reception. The tv also had no reception. I immediately checked out and found a room FOR THE SAME PRICE at The Waldorf of all places. So proof, The Roosevelt Hotel is over priced. Don't give them the satisfaction of booking a room there, find somewhere else.

Prices in Manhattan for lodging seem very high, compared to similar size cities. We were very satisfied with the Roosevelt and will return there. Super location, lovely lobby, courteous staff, very clean and quiet room, clean bathroom, nice amenities, good TV. Only negative: AC didn't work so great.

Very beautiful to look at. They really put a lot into the decor of this hotel. The rooms were well put together and the price is worth what you get in terms of service and location.

Soap and shampoo Replacement soap and shampoo was not there if we left the bottle(s) in the tub, even if they had minute quantity(s) left. W.o.w. the supply was very skimpy. Other than that, the room was OK. It would be nice to have the services of a small fridge.

I have never in my life stayed at such a horrible hotel. The receptionists are rude and couldn't care less about their customers. They charged my credit card THREE times for the stay, yet wouldn't refund the two 'accidental' charges, and it was only when I threatened to call the police and accused them of fraud that they agreed to do something about it. Don't set foot in this hotel, they are the most untrustworthy horrible hotel I have ever had the misfortune to stay at!

For the past 5 years every summer I've been coming to New York. I never had a problem with hotels, but this time I booked reservations online and paid in advance, and when I got there, check in problems occurred. Instead of giving me a room with two double beds, like I had paid for, they gave me a room with one big bed for me and my guest to share. The front desk was so rude, and said that I should be thankful I got a room, and just deal with it because they are overbooked. Shocked, and and digusted by how I was being treated I asked to speak with the manager...The manager had a much better attitude. She gave me a rollaway bed free of charge, and said they would put me in the room I asked within the next couple days. However, they didn't keep their word, and for the next 9 days me and my guest were stuck taking turns sleeping on the uncomfortable rollaway bed. To make matters even worse, an expensive item of mine got stolen from my hotel room. To sum it all up, the only thing good about this hotel is its appearance and door/bellmen. Front desk staff was very disrespectful, and the hotel has yet to do something for the mess up on the room and my negative experience. They need to learn to honor their word, and realize that "without the customer, there would be no jobs for them"...I DO NOT recommend this hotel.

You are right in the middle of Manhattan!!! Everything is right where you need it...and it's affordable!!! My friends and I stayed here several times when we came up to New York for spring break and auditions!!! Affordable...nice...and near everything...you couldn't ask for anything more on a student's budget...and later as a business person!

I took my son to NYC for a long week end, upon arriving at this hotel,it was the start of a great adventure for him. The hotel is located so convenient to everything, The room was very nice with two double beds and very clean, the housekeeping staff were great, we walked to Broadway and Times Sq everyday , the concierge told us exactly how to take the subway to Wall St, I did find the front desk a little stand offish, as they stood and gossiped about whom ever was not around, but I chalked this up to being an international thing, However the only one I found to be rude in ALL of NYC was the bartender in the evenings, he would not talk to anyone except the other rude bartender, one drink I left no tip! All in all if you go by the negative stuff written about this hotel and decide to pass, you have made a mistake, For the value and location it is extremely nice, We will go back anytime we can.
