Beware of Airport Transfers I don't have any complaints with the hotel itself however the airport transportation is unreliable. Had an early AM flight along with many other people. The hotel was not prepared and forced a flight crew to delay a flight. The driver refused to drop me off at my terminal forcing me to take the rail from another terminal.

Just right I had an all around excellent experience at the Doubletree JFK. It was very clean, extremely comfortable, and the staff went to great lengths to be helpful. It appears to be a popular stopover for flight crews. The hotel is most convenient for its proximity to the airport, but I also used public transportation to go into NYC, using the convenient hotel shuttle to the airport (5min), AirTrain (20min), and subway (15-20min on line E to 5th Avenue). Total cost of transport was $12. The Long Island Railroad to NY Penn Station on 34th Street can also be used instead of the subway. Cabs to and from NYC charge a flat fee of $45 plus a $4 toll. It can be quite cost effective when compared with higher room rates in Manhattan.

Nice Bed! I needed a place to crash for just a few hours before an early morning flight to South America. I was thankful to find DoubleTree’s Sweet Dreams collection in my room. The bed was so comfortable, falling asleep for those few hours was not a problem at all. My only gripe is, there is advertised on Expedia.com that there is a 24 hour self service deli, however this does not exist and when I asked at the front desk, they had never heard of such a thing. I was a bit hungry, but the warm chocolate chip cookie at check in was enough to put me to sleep! Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks Don’t pay for a taxi with this hotel if you are coming from John F Kennedy, there is a free shuttle 24/7!

Accomodating hotel I stayed in the hotel when I had a layover of 8 hours between a local and international flight. The hotel was very accomodating to check me in earlier than normal. The bed was extremely comfortable and I had a great sleep, making my onward journey more pleasant. The hotel is also in a very convenient location to JFK and offers a shuttle service every half hour, to and from the airport.

A very good experience The staff were friendly, the hotel/room was clean and well-appointed. The bed was extremely comfortable and I was asleep within 5 minutes of arriving in the room.

Not as bad as others say but not great The neighborhood is indeed not quite appealing though not catastrophic, and you can just stay in the hotel. A small lobby, a fast processing (but not unpleasant) clerk. The room decoration is showing its age, but it's still OK; our TV was broken (the image was all red). And the room was just next to the highway and pretty noisy. Still, it's certainly not a terrible hotel experience for one night stay; the competition at JFK does not seem great either.

Like they really care This is not a hotel I would recommend. Difficult to find, smells bad, overall indifferent employees. The entry door to my room had pry bar marks on it, like someone really has broken in before. Traveler's tip for business travelers Do not stay here if you can avoid it, plus Expedia special rate does not allow Hilton points

Not Impressed Service was poor. Requested extra towels and had to wait an hour before we got them and that to after calling the manager and complaining. The bed sheet were hopefully clean but had a stain on the sheet which put us off. Would never stay at this hotel again.
