Small but practical Great location, very clean and modern. Maybe not ideal for tall/big people : the sink is the size of airplane sinks. Had a room with no bath, but that was no problem : never had to wait to use the communal baths. Will definitely stay there again.

Everything you need This hotel is very conveniently located around midtown - close to the subways and walkable distance to most stores for shopping. There are banks, drug stores and delis close by if you need to grab something or use the atm. We had the full bed room which is perfect for two people max because it is pretty small but there are shared bathrooms (they’re clean) outside of the hall so you don’t have to wait for each other. We tried the breakfast in the lobby and it was perfect - very fresh and organic. Overall, it is a splendid little hotel and great for short trips. Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks I highly recommend using the subway than taxis - it’s $2 each way and faster because taxis get stuck in traffic. The hotel is close to the 6 and E train. Study the subway map or you might get on the wrong train!

Good stay, but I would not take somebody else 3 day stay in mid June. 3rd floor, single, opposite side from street. Room was small, but no big deal because I was in NYC to see the city not my hotel room. The shared bathrooms might be a turn off to those not accustomed to summer camp, college dorm / fraternity, or army barracks. Never had to wait for a bathroom, and they were very clean. I had trouble with WiFi and had to talk with Internet "help desk"--not what I want to do on my vacation. Noise from other guests entering and exiting their rooms is unavoidable. I think it is a function of the small hallways not because of thin doors. It was safe, clean, and the cheapest place I could find during this time. I would stay again by myself, but it would be a turnoff for my girlfriend or parents. Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks MetroCard for subways...$5 for AirTrain to Jamaica Station, transfer to E Train for $2, exit 53rd and Lexington...The Pod is about a 5 minute walk away. Total ride from airport to hotel was about 45 minutes. A taxi would have been at least $30 and about the same time.

Absolutely Stoked! My mum and I stayed at the awesome Pod Hotel for 3 nights while we shopped for 30hrs over 3 days. Perfect place for it really. Brilliant location on 51st and a couple of streets from 5th Ave and 2 tiny blocks from the subway. I’m a coeliac and there was a 24hr place on the corner that did wholefoods, a huge salad and hot food bar and made stirfries while you waited. Really really good if you’re worried about the American Food. Just around the corner there are loads of restaurants and bars to take your pick from. The Concierge was extremely helpful and thorough. The room - we were there just to crash and catch up on emails for work etc and it was perfect. Free wireless in your room. We had bunks which were quite wide and funky with our own little TV that suspended from the wall. The space is certainly maximised. The cleaning staff were thorough and lovely. BIG TIP - take a pair of thongs for the communal shower. We didn’t have to wait once and it was clean every time. I personally loved the chilled out music in the bathroom and the rainwater shower head. I’d definitely stay there again and again. So good for the money.

Tight quarters, but nice ones The place is pretty much exactly as described. Rooms are small but well kept, bathrooms are shared but well maintained. I never waited to use the restroom once. The staff was able to accommodate requests quickly and easily. Certainly not the place for anyone expecting a normal sized room or traditional hotel amenities, but for someone looking for a bargain in New York who doesn’t want to stay at a dump, this is a great choice.

Clean and comfortable hotel in midtown Manhattan This is a very nice and recently renovated hotel in a prime location in Manhattan. I like the philosophy of the hotel management which seems to be friendly to the environment. The breakfast is excellent and serves only organic food. The service was also very nice and friendly.

Loved It! This was a great hotel to stay in. We stayed in the bunk bed room and never had to wait for the bathroom! The service was great and the location convenient to everything we wanted to see. I would surely recommend this hotel to others. Traveler's tip on local attractions Be sure to look for the great little park across the street from The Pod. It’s a great place to have a cup of coffee or enjoy your lunch.

Cute hotel My daughter loved the bunk beds with individual TVs. I am not used to going down the hall for a toilet or shower but they were kept immaculate. Also you have a notification in the room that shows if someone is using the shower, which one so you don’t go down when all are being used. I would recommend it.
