When we were there 3 years ago they were remodleing. Room was small but clean and bathroom was very nice.I have been trying to remember the name of that small eatery up the street that had the best cheese cake we have ever tasted. We hope to be up that way again this winter to see the Christmas tree and all the wonderful things going on in the clean city of New York.

Comfortable hotel, though not centrally located For breakfast leave hotel and walk a couple of blocks to Zabars. Delicious. The diner straight across from the hotel was also pretty good.

The hotel was very nice. The doormen were very helpful. The location was convenient. I overheard someone complaining about them messing up their reservation but I did not experience any problems. I wish I could have opened the windows in my room.

I enjoy staying here when travelling on business. Rooms are kept very modern and clean. Nice turned down linens and a bodacious flat screen on the wall. Don't miss visiting the balcony on the 16th floor. A very nice place to relax day or night.

You gotta stay On the Ave! I highly recommend this hotel. It was as good as a hotel stay gets. The room was very clean, quiet, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the shower was one of the best I've ever been in (including at my house!!) Most of the staff was incredibly friendly and responsive, there were no surprises on check-out, and the terrace was wonderful! Whether you feel it's pricey or not, believe me that it's worth every penny. Great location, lovely hotel.

On the Ave is located in a quiet and very friendly neighbourhood. There are plenty of good restaurants, museums and shops at walking distance. Central park is nearby and perfect for a walk and picknick.

While this hotel is located in a great neighborhood, its customer service is low class and the hotel is a bad value. My parents recently stayed at this hotel, which is convenient to my apartment. During their stay, my mother had one incident which exemplifies the hotel's problematic customer service (this example was not the only incident). Prior to the maid cleaning her room for the day, my mom required an additional towel and requested such from the maid. Her request was refused and the maid told her that she could only receive another towel when her room was cleaned for the day. My mom then called the front desk and a clean towel was never sent to her room. The room was also very dusty upon check in. This hotel's rates are comparable to the Ritz Carlton and the service should be commensurate with the room rates. However, the customer service was low quality and low class.

I do agree with what others have said about the value, location and accomodations.....That said, I have never experienced such rude staff in my life. I had booked my reservations on line and when I arrived, although they had them, they said they didn't have a non smoking room for us. When I told them that was unacceptable, they finally did something and managed to come us with the right accomodations. Upon check out they refused to honor the price that I had in writing on my print out (for reasons that still aren't clear to me) and they told me to take it up with the on lone booking booking agency. When I disputed this with them, the man I was talking to said, I can't deal with you, I'll have to get someone else and stormed off. After a very long wait, I saw him speak to the other woman at the counter, who had also been extremely rude to us, and finally (it had been at least 30 minutes by now) they came out and grugingly said, okay we'll credit you the $80. It really colored my experience, needless to say!
