It's a nice and cheap place in NYC. Only 10 mins by subway to the center of NYC (42nd Street) and the neighbourhood is safe and full of restaurants. Toilets and bathrooms are clean, the rooms are less clean. The staff is nice but the service is horrible. Don't ask for wake up calls (they won't call you) and be prepared to wait a long time if you ask for extra blankets or towels. But in general, it's cheap, safe and you are in NYC!

My wife and I were traveling on a bit of budget. This summer has been unusually warm and as a couple we appreciate our privacy. How can we find a private bathroom, a quiet room, and air conditioning in budget accomodations though? Well, Morningside helped us out. The room was small, granted. The bed left a bit to be desired. However, the room was quiet. We had a window AC unit that worked well, a ceiling fan, a private bathroom with a great shower, even a closet complete with hangers. All this for less than $120/night.

An evil eyed manager named patrick tryed a few days before the end of my stay to charge me 400$ more than what was the deal. He sayed that if I won't pay I should leave, after an hour of loud convercesion he did me a "discount" of 150$, so I payed 250$ more.

I had a great stay, the price was awesome. The rooms are very simple, but it was enough for me. All I did was go out on the city and come home to sleep. The rooms were clean-no bugs or rats! Excellent staff, very kind and helpful. I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone traveling on a budget.

+ Friendly staff, secure entry, good location. - My room was very cold. I did secure a portable heater from the hotel and that solved the problem.

Don't go there. The manager is very rude and disrespectful who doesn't care about his customers. After the first night we complained about the condition of our room that sheets were not cleaned, bathrooms are horrible and rooms smells really bad. In answer manager start cussing for five minutes with F words. We decided to leave the hotel because of his attitude. Long story short we left the hotel in the morning and he charged us for that night and I'm still working with my credit card company to get my money back.

One awful "Hotel" did not have the room we had reserved, girl on reception more interested in chewing her gum than helping us out.

Inexpensive and good location The hotel was in a very nice block of the upper west side. The room was clean, maid service uneven, somedays they showed up some days they didnt. Overall not bad for a budget hotel.
