Metro Hotel
45 West 35 Street - 10001 New York
Located conveniently in midtown New York Metro Hotel is a fine moderately priced hotel to stay in. Metro Hotel New York's lobby proves to be a nostalgic tribute to the actors of Hollywood's Golden Era. Sometimes elegant, sometimes brooding and sometimes stunning, the Gods and Divas of yesteryear Hollywood peep down at you from black and white photographs and movie posters as you admire them in the sitting area of the lobby at Hotel Metro New York. The boutique hotel's appeal is enhanced by the Art deco feel that the interiors have. New York's Metro Hotel has a total of 179 guest rooms which are tastefully done up in contrasting colors of dark and neutral. The same Art deco feel is relived in the rooms as well, fitted with two large beds or one single bed, accessorized by headboards and nightstands and the walls are adorned with black and white pictures of movie actors. The rooms at Hotel Metro of New York feature phones with voicemail and data port, hair dryers, iron and ironing boards, color TV with in room movie facility and AM/FM clock radios. The bathrooms are all marble with luxurious Gilbert & Soames toiletries. Metro Hotel in New York also boasts of a cozy library where guests can borrow books and read them while lounging by a fireplace. There is a rooftop bar as well, where you could have a relaxing evening sipping cocktails while gazing at the Empire state Building. The hotel provides complimentary breakfast to all its guests, which you could enjoy at the fancy in-house eatery Metro Grill.

Very small but cozy rooms. Clean and the Bed was comfortable. Airconditioner was a bit loud. Elevators slow, and staff pleasant. Great location for shopping and theatre.

My wife and I have been to new york three times and have stayed at three different hotels. We have now found the hotel that we will stay at every time we visit the Big Apple. This hotel was top notch in our book and we highly recommend it to visitors that are reading this review. Great location, clean hotel, polite employees, and the right price.

I arrived at the hotel with bags in hand, no help at the door, after dragging my stuff up the stairs and inside, I find out there was a "mistake" with my reservation (actually, they claimed I was the one who made a mistake) and I was supposed to have stayed the night before which they informed me they had already charged me for. They then informed me there were no rooms available for that evening, and there was absolutely nothing they could do for me leaving me with no room and no place to go. Thankfully, I got a room at the Four Points by Sheraton in nearby Chelsea (which deserves a 5 star rating for their view alone, not to mention the courteous and helpful staff). Once I got somewhere where I could check my email, I checked my confirmation and THEY were the ones that made a mistake. I will NEVER, EVER bother even calling the Hotel Metro again, there are MUCH better places to stay in that area.......plus, their website and online booking SUCKS!!!!!

This was a very nice hotel at an affordable price, in a centrallocation. It was around the corner from the Empire State Building and Macy's. Neighborhood offered everything, but the street was a little dingy. Construction going on right next store, even on Sat., but we were never in the hotel for it to bother us. Room's very small, as well as bathroom, no tub. But furnished styled very elegantly. Downside, if you open the minibar for more than 20 seconds they charge you for something. You cannot even keep something in it. But you don't see this unless you read the fine print of the minibar menu first. Riduculous. And no kid tv stations on television. The hotel personnel were great though. It is the management that should read these comments. Nice roofdeck to see city. Also have gym.

Great value, good location for transportation, good staff, good complimentary breakfast served in a pleasant room. We booked the "family suite" and it was AMPLE space for our needs. Everything you could want and a 24 hr. deli/grocery around the corner. I would recommend to my friends AND go back.

My husband took me to New York for our wedding anniversay in 1999 and we stayed at the Hotel Metro - and couldn't fault it. The rooms were superb, the whole ambience of the hotel took you staight back to the Art Deco era, the complimentary breakfast was great, and the view from the roof terrace was spectacular.

So unlike most of these reviews my family and i did not have a nice stay at this hotel we only stayed one night, and thank god for that! we called the day before to see if we could have an early check in and they informed us that it would be ok. My daughter was graduating from college in the city at 6pm and we wanted time to get ready. we arrived at 12 and were told that our room would not be ready for another hour, so we did some shopping and came back in a hour then were told our room was still not ready so we proceeded to go get lunch becaseu we were told our room would defenitly be ready with in 15 min. when we returned with in an hour there was a new staff at the front desk that told us our room was still not ready, this women was so rude and arrogant that we just wanted to leave , but after waiting another 30 min we finally were put into our "penthouse" room where there were two bed that were small. we had five people that were staying over. when we called the front desk to ask for a cot we were informed that our penthouse suit was only for 2 people and that we were going to be charger 25$ extra a person. with that being said we thought that we could get a roll away bed, but no they had none! my daughters boyfriend had to end up sleeping on the ground. if this was not bad enough my daughter found dirty boxers under the bed!!!! i almost died when i saw this i was disgusted and mortified i am not one to complain about hotels and i am an easy going person along with my family but our stay here was just plan awful i would not go back and not recomend this hotel to anyone!!!!!!
