Great money saving place to stay! Cheapest way to NYC! Free shuttle from hotel to airport (terminal c)go down & out to bus(62) terminal to Penn Station($1.35)have to have exact change!! Penn station(1.75) to Manhattan. Hotel sells NYC maps for points of interest & subways have maps of connecting subways to each destination (free). Suggest you get these if you dont know your way around. On way back @ NJ airport you have to take airtrain(free)to terminal P4 for hotel shuttle.

Somewhere to sleep, thats it! The train or bus into new-york are both fairly expensive in my opinion but you save on Manhatten Hotel costs. Get up early get down town and join the long lines for all the sites wear good trainers have fun be carefull on the subway crime is still a problem drink coffee eat burgers!

Decent for the money Overall, a decent place to stay for the money. Would definitely stay there again if the need arises. Only downside is you do have to pay to park in the hotel parking lot, other than that, it is worth it. Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay One note... While the hotel was very accomodating, there isn’t much around as far as any dining or entertainment options. The hotel is on the outskirts of the airport that does provide free shuttle service.

Howard Johnson Newark Airport Not bad for a one night stay for a flight early the next morning. If you are a budget traveler it is fine.

Value for Money You can use the airport express service bus to commute to/from New York at the cheapest price. Do not go for cabs. Airport Express Service Bus - NY Port Authority to Newark Airport (every 15 mins) Free Shuttle - Newark Airport to Hotel (every 30 mins) from terminal P4.

Not impressed The room was not available or ready when I got there. The hotel desk personnel where extremely incompetand. The communication skill of the personnel were lacking to say the least. The card key did not work, and the desk clerk was unable to open the room even with the regular key. Mind you this was extremly taxing after a 5 to 6 hour flight. My son and I Were tired!! We ended up being transfered over to the Holiday Inn Hotel instead. That also was a lenghty process. The same poor english speaking ability of the night Desk crew was apparent. At the Holiday Inn Hotel there was problems with the Air conditioner, Card key problems, room not being serviced or cleaned etc. Also experience rude customer service from a female Day Desk clerk.

Pretty good for what we paid for it. Very nice hotel. ver y clean. Ok staff. Only thing is if you are planning on visiting New York this hotel is probably not for you. Although it is only 8 miles as the crow flies to Central Manhatten it is a nightmare to get to and from and takes 2 + hours travelling time involving a minibus, a monorail, a public bus, the PATH rail then a change to the new york Subway. A taxi ride costs $70. It is situated in Newark which apparently is a very tough area but I didn't feel thretened I was getting the subway buses back at 3 - 5 am each night. On the plus side it is only 5 minutes away from New Jersey gardens (a huge retail mall). Great Hotel, bad or weary location

Good location, bad internet The location and transportation is good, which is why I choose to stay here. However, you can only use the "free" wireless internet in the lobby, unless you bring a network cable with you to hook your laptop with a wall RJ-45 jack. Traveler's tip for business travelers It requires additional $15 per day for the parking, so you can actually use the shuttle bus to travel between the hotel and Newardk airport. From the Newark you can take he airtrain to take the NJ transit to Manhantan, or take the shuttle bus to a shopping outlet.

The main advantage is its proximity to the airport. Asked at the desk for a wake up call, but it never came.
