Great if your on a budget as it's cheap! We found this hotel great value if you want to stay in a central location and if you're on a budget like we were. Rooms were clean and tidy even if the reception and corridors were a bit basic. Shared a bathroom with other guests but wasn't a big problem. Hotel staff were friendly enough and helpful...would recommend this to anyone who wants to stay in New York at a reasonable price.

    - We got what we paid for, but the staff could not take credit card payments correctly. swiped my card 4 times telling me it was rejected, only to be told be my bank, it went throught the first time. i then had to pay cash. not good.

+ Personnel is very kind and helpful. - Both, the bathroom and the room have not been really clean. in fact the bathroom was so disgusting, i decided to spend that day without having a shower. allthough it said on your website, breakfast is included, it was not (they told me, they never served breakfast in this hotel, as they do not have a kitchen.

Great for the price in NY We brought our own shower slides (precaution) and wore them in the shower & bathroom area. Save money for the room and spend it enjoying NY. You can take in a show for the money your saving for some shut eye. Buy the "metrocard" you will also save money, knowing you can hop on anytime without dishing out more money each time is convenient and saves your legs from all that walking you're going to do anyway.

Quality Equals Price The room and was clean. The sheets were white and clean. The towels were clean but stained. There was the occasional cockroach. The fixtures were old and the shared bathrooms were were in poor shape. I felt the need to wear shoes at all times. The location is great, safe, and close to the metro. I got only a little bit less than what I expected for a cheap room in New York.

This hotel is not your fancy-dancy hotel like the Crowne Plaza, etc... but we loved it. My husband and I stayed in this hotel for 6 days, and it was awesome, (it's small, but it was just right because we were gone all day anyway). Yes you have to share a bathroom, but it was never occupied when we needed to..ya know...go, and it was always very clean. It's a few blocks away from Central Park, Grey's Papaya Hotdogs (yummy), Mcdonald's, some pharmacy, and Cafe 71 (mm...mm..good). When you exit the hotel and you turn left you will see the River and there's a peer that you can walk on (sooo romantic, beautiful sunset). The hotel is in a residential side of the city, so it was nice and quiet in the evening and we got to meet alot of people. We miss New York City!! We will definitely go back and stay at this hotel again.

After we got over the shock of the VERY no-frills aged appearance of the hotel and the fact that there were a lot of funky things like peeling paint in the bathroom, wires hanging out in the room and different colors of paint (within the same spot) in about 47 layers, including covering some old doorbell on the inside of our room, we decided it was not as bad as we first thought. Really! Our initial impression was that something was going to come crawling out or that we'd hear the people in the neighboring room breathing, but none of that was the case. It was actually quite clean and very quiet, just old and not rennovated or updated, so it doesn't make a very good first impression. But it was very functional - don't expect anything even remotely fancy. You share a bathroom in the hall with up to 3 other rooms, but this was never an issue as there are lots of bathrooms to choose from. We had a double room with a sink in our room. The lighting wasn't very good. The building is in an extremely quiet location as it's at the end of a dead-end block in a great neighborhood. Parking isn't very good, however, it's NYC street parking in a residential neighborhood. Which basically means you're on your own to find parking. Don't leave anything in the car. We went to a coffee shop/diner type of restaurant just 2 blocks away for breakfast on the SE corner of West End Ave. and 72nd St. It was very normal, not exciting, but perfect for breakfast. Just a few blocks further, over on Amsterdam, Broadway and Columbus, there are lots of restaurants and shops and you're actually in the heart of the Upper West Side of NYC - a great place to be. Getting around on public transportation was easy. The subway was only 3 blocks away. It's a major line running up and down the West side of the city, and you can get connections to go in all other directions somewhere along the line, and busses run up and down all the avenues. Be prepared to walk a lot in this city.

Basic accomodations CHEAP basic room. Room was a nice size with 2 double beds. Sink and small fridge in room. Clean bathroom down the hall. Great for a cheap, no-frills place to crash in Manhattan.
