I love this hotel The rooms are small but comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. The lobby is unique with Morrrocan decor. You do not need an elevator, as the staff is wonderful and take your bags to your room and the neighborhood is wonderful.

Literally the worst hotel I ever stayed in Tiny rooms, not cleaned properly. Risk of rodents around as there are those apertures between the skirting and the floor, sticking rodent traps placed in sevral locations and soem gaps filled with steel-wool. Heater pipes making a constant noise due to "this is an old building" as the staff says. Staff's efforts to politely deal with the problems fail to make up for all the discomfort. Unless it's free, never stay in this hotel if you want to get some decent night sleep.

Too Noisy! First we were put into a small room with a double bed, the bathtub was yellow on the bottom, we complained and they moved us to a much larger room. The negatives, very noisy and bright from the street lights on Broadway. The building is old, you have to go up a flight of steps to get to the hotel lobby. Our room had a space heater to provide heat. For a bit more money we could have gotten a place where you could actually get a good night's sleep.

Good budget hotel This hotel is excellent value for money. Rooms are small but have everything you need if you are just using the room as a base. There is a small bar which also serves a cold breakfast in the mornings. Staff are friendly and helpful and there is a subway stop right outside the hotel. Recommended for those looking for budget accommodation.

Oh So Cold For anyone who is not familiar with Dallas BBQ, it is a fabulous resteraunt. If you want to stay on a lower budget, you can get a plate with chicken, rice or fries, and cornbread for around $4/$5. Its located on 72nd st, only a very short train ride from the hotel.

Depends on what you're looking for... Excellent location - while no coffee in room, coffee shop right next door. Room was small, but quaint. No chair or desk in room and night stands (with clock, lamp and phone) were across the room. Bath was clean but barely functional (no counter space on which to put items). Lost a make up pencil down the drain because of there being no drain plug or cover, but at least it wasn't a contact lens! We were never given wash cloths and soap wasn't replenished, but we didn't inquire to either.

skip it - - - this is a hostel Not the best choice in NYC. Not recommended to anyone who knows how to travel. Maybe okay for kids (but not mine). Creepy. Smell of incense and pot on every floor. Two flights of stairs are there to welcome you before you get to the registration desk. Staff is not very friendly and are all dressed in black, with un-natural black hair and deep eye shadow. Like checking into something in Dante's inferno. I forgot to check if there were gargoyles out front.

Decent 2-star on Upper West Side For a two-star hotel I found it quite acceptable. No elevator, which might be a problem for some, but I did not find it so. A real bargain for the price, much nicer than most 2-star properties.

Comfortable I thought the hotel was located at a nice location for me to attend a conference at Columbia University. It was a 20 minute walk to the Conference. The room was small and the window looked out onto another wall 1 1/2 feet away but it was fine for me. The price was reasonable compared with other hotels in the area. Someplace else it might not have been worth the price.
