This hotel is on the upper west side. They are converted apartments and a perfect set up for our family(wife, myself and two kids under ten years old). Five blocks from Central park and across the street from Fairway market which is extraordinary(the famous Zabars market is 4 blocks north as well). Several blocks to the subway(don't be afraid to use the subways-easy to navigate once you understand the grid). Great diner for breakfast two blocks north-The Broadway Diner... plus innumerable others. We simply enjoyed walking all over and would strongly recommend Central Park(for kids especially), Museum of Natural History(Dinosaurs), Empire State Building, and the two day double decker bus tours that allow you to get off and on. I was raised in New York and still love to go on these buses. We also rented a car and went to Brooklyn for a day. New York is also the safest I have found it in many years-we took the subway right up thru the Bronx to Yankee Stadium. Will return to Beacon(only problem is that some people live there full time and cooking smells can be at times a little.......also, rooms not fully up to date) Still--really great arrangement overall. Second visit to the Beacon. The employees were all excellent.

We are aware that NYC hotel prices have gone up as the Euro has gone down. We have been loyal visitors staying at the Beacon since 1988. We are very happy with location and facilities in the Upper West side neighborhood and have paid the price each year even though it has continually gone up in price. Sadly to say it will soon be out of our price range and we will be forced to find another place to stay. The Beacon seems like home and we do not look forward to this.

The bed was okay but fundamentally that is why I get a hotel room and it was the cheapest mattress I have slept on in a hotel that cost more than $40...and it was WAY more than $40 the nights I was there.

Beacon Hotel was for us in a great position. We enjoyed the closeness to Central Park and to the subway which got us to wherever we wanted to go in a matter of minutes. When we next visit New York we will definitely consider staying there again.

I was in a nice big room, clean with bath. Old fashioned but much better than those impersonal hotels meeting organisers usually send you to.

I really recommend this hotel to second-time visitors to New York; it's in a great area that I would never have got to know otherwise. It's not in MidTown but a major subway staion is 2 blocks away, great shopping 6 blocks away and it's right by Central

After making several reservations at different hotels and cancelling, we finally decided to stick with the Beacon Hotel. We had a one bedroom suite for 4 people. We can't stop talking about our trip to NYC. The Beacon Hotel was a big part of our good memories. It is directly across the street from the fabulous Fairway grocery store. We ate at a WONDERFUL dive called Big Nick's several times. We also enjoyed going to Zabars and H & H Bagels. Lots of places are opened 24 hours. Our view was fabulous. Our room faced Broadway and our sleep wasn't disrupted by street noise. Our suite was bigger than it looked on the internet pictures which was a surprise and we were not in the least bit disappointed. In fact, we can't wait to get back to NYC, the Upper Westside and the Beacon Hotel!

Nice hotel, well situated, lots of restaurants around, quiet streets. Our room was neat and comfortable. The only reproach that I have to adress to this hotel is the foul smell in the corridors.

our room was on the road side opposite supermarket and late night deliveries were quite noisy

Renovations were being carried out during our stay but did not inhibit us enjoying the hotel. The location is particularly handy.
