Hostel Highbridge House
307A west 146th street - 10032 New York
The quiet and relaxing Highbridge House youth hostel hotel is the perfect budget option for young people who want to meet like minded travellers to New York City. This excellent location is ideal for its close proximity to restaurants, shopping and some of New York City’s best attractions. Also you get the flavour of Harlem- the main thoroughfare of this famous NY area is 125th Street, where you can find the famous Apollo Theater, a concert venue which has been a rite of passage for rising musical talent. The Harlem Week/Harlem Jazz & Music Festival is an annual summer festival taking place each August, with food tasting, art exhibits, concerts, seminars, music, street entertainment, sporting events and an auto show. Any day is a good one to come uptown, but Sundays are, for many, the best time to hear gospel singing at several churches. This location offers 32 quiet and clean private rooms, free high-speed wireless Internet access, daily housekeeping and free linens and towels. Private suites provide one double bed or bunk beds and a shared bathroom. There is a kitchen available for all guests. The rooms are sparse but beautiful in their austerity with hard wood floors and wrought iron filigree bed ends. There is a TV lounge, a safe, left luggage storage and a reception which will be happy to help you find your way around town. Cheap and cheerful with no frills in Harlem!

Nice enough place to stay, close to the subway into town, had free wi-fi and when we got our private room it was very good.

Next to the subway, but the position is not the best. Staff is very nice and helpfull. Cleanliness is good, everyday bathroom are cleaned. I have reserved for a 4 beds room but I was in a 6 beds rooms. But for the price it's ok.

We stayed in a private twin room for six nights. The room was nice and rather big, but the trash wasn't empty when we arrived. The bathroom has been cleaned the second day of our stay and looked nice, but there were always some hairs, especially on the floor. bring yourself flip-flops! The staff has been great, although one night we couldn't get some sleep before 4a.m. because of some party going on downstairs. The position is ok, there's a "Starbucks" at the corner, so you can buy a coffee on the way to the subway (2 blocks)because the ride downtown takes at least half an hour (to Times Square). The bottom line is that we would recommend the hostel.
