I stayed at the Herald Square Hotel in November 2003, over the Thanksgiving period. On my arrival, the receptionist told me that the room was small and offered to move me as soon as a bigger one became available. I was alone so the room was plenty big enough for me.

Nice small hotel in mid-town Manhattan. Rooms are good size for NYC and restful with no traffic noise. Walking distance from Penn Station and Empire State Building. The building is very old (original home of Life Magazine), so don't expect large hallways, elevators or lobby. Internet access via lobby kiosk (Wi-Fi coming soon). Not fancy, bring your own shampoo, but a very good value and nothing to complain about.

pros: Huge rooms and bathrooms, super clean, amazing locationThis hotel is New York City's best kept secret. Seriously. Start with the great prices. Add in the amazing location. To top it off, our room was HUGE, the bathroom HUGE,...

We love the location, but during our last trip the service was not quite up to par.

This hotel was very clean. Beds were comfortable. Great shower water pressure. No street noise. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. You could not ask for better location. We had two rooms for four people each room had a 2 full size beds. We are 4 women traveling together. We felt safe and even walked back to hotel after a late dinner. If you want luxury not here, just nice, clean and affordable.

This hotel is the best kept secret in NYC. After searching for over two months, my wife and I settled on this hotel because it was the best deal we found. After reading reviews of many NYC budget hotels, we feared our experience would be terrible. However, quite the opposite was true. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We were allowed to check-in early, where we found a clean, good-sized room with a very comfortable bed awaiting us. The location is ideal as well, just a healthy walk from any mid-town destination.

Basic but VERY clean...polite helpful staff...motel type rooms BUT safe, clean and a block from the Empire State Building in NYC..I paid 80 a night. Very much like a average European hotel. If your on a budget and want to stay in the city..cant be beat. Subway stop around the corner. Lobby has lockers to store your bags if you have a late flight or checkin early and a internet acess kiosk. Safe area even at night. If your looking for luxury dont bother, but if your just in the hotel to sleep and shower..cant be beat.
