A decent budget hotel in a great location. Despite its gloomy decoration and basic facilities, the room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. My only real critisism was the noisey heating (and the noisey people in the room next door lol!). The location is faultless with a subway station only yards away and the empire state building and times square only a couple of minutes walk from the hotel door. The cafe next door (captains cafe) is excellent and very well priced. Overall, i would recommend this hotel to budget travellers due to its brilliant location.

The location was good, the room was small (as was expected) but the price was reasonable for a private bath. Nice and close to the subway along Lexington Ave.

The hotel is nothing special, the hallways smelled like wet carpet and the elevator was a trill ride. However, the rooms were super clean and they have a nice cafe on the first floor. They even had a room under CCTV where we stored our luggage after ...

Great Location The location was great and the room was clean and quiet. The only issue we had was the shower, the water would not stay at a consistent temperature. Overall, it was a good stay.

The Grand Union is very well located in mid-town. The rooms are adequate and clean. The amenities are a lovely quality, and the refrigerator comes in handy. The staff was friendly and helpful. The lounge is comfortable. I believe it is excellent value and would recommend it to friends, and stay there again.

Would definitely stay again This is a great hotel for the price - centrally located, clean and comfortable, quiet enough - we were on the 7th floor - and convenient to everything. Also, it's right across the street from a fabulous new resaurant called Artisanal. All told, a great deal.

The location was great and rooms and bed comfortable. Only issue was the refrigerator made a lot of noise and possibly needs fixing. Reported on check out. Would have no hesitation in staying again and have already recommended to friends who are travelling to NY in Feb'10. Great value for money.
