Parkside Artistic Enclave Be sure to clarify if your room is the type you registered for - there are descrepancies between room types and locations w/in the hotel. If the roof scene is paramount to you, double check that it will be available since they rent it out to special occasions often.

My first stay at Ian Schrager's Gramercy Park Hotel will keep me coming back forever. As a constant traveler, I miss the comforts of home -- but have found them all at the Gramercy. Though the service is 5 star - it isn't stuffy -- the rooms are gorgeous and yet, still unique - I don't feel like I'm in a hotel at all but rather a dear friend's lovley Gramercy art-filled home.

a good choice Great concierge service, attentive staff, small & slightly uncomfortable rooms but trendily designed and with great amenities, great location overlooking park in midtown. outstanding modern art masterpieces in lobby and bar, rose bar the place to be in ny now...but even difficult for guests to get a table and the usual arrogant doorman...

I stayed here in early June 2007. It has been beautifully restored. The service really made the stay perfect. Everyone was courteous and helpful.

Brand new old New York Nearly perfect hotel. Staff is uniformly gracious and the public rooms are astonishingly beautiful. Original art, great design. Roof bar is fantastic, Rose Bar terrific. Only caveats: blasting techno music in Rose Bar (then again, I'm fifty, so I'm not supposed to like it) and the mattress on the bed was a little hard. Pillows were excellent, however. Extremely expensive, but great for a splurge.

Minor Complaints about Luxe Hotel This second visit to Gramercy Park Hotel had a few minor (and surprising) snags. I stay here for a treat to myself and because it’s convenient to the green subway line (4/5/6), Union Square, and more. It’s a gorgeous neighborhood and with hotel stay there’s included entrée to Gramercy Park itself - a nice bonus. My snags this time were: a very clogged bathroom trap that rendered my shower a bath (I pulled out trap to reveal a gross wad of hair from who knows how long - gross!), the gym seemed a little neglected, and a swing-arm lamp completely came off the wall and crashed onto the bedside table. The GPH has a policy that to enjoy their one lounge (Jade Lounge) reservations are not needed. But to get into Rose Lounge, even late in the evening, they make a big deal out of needing a reservation - even when you state that you’re a guest of the hotel. You talk to one doorman, who says you must speak to another doorman. You wait. And wait some more. And then you are alright to go into Rose Lounge. The rooftop restaurant is lovely and extremely expensive. I left a generous tip, not realizing that they charge an automatic 18.5% gratuity - so watch that.
