En route to NYC, I received a voicemail that there were sewage problems on 2 floors at the GEM which impacted my reservation. I was told I was being moved to a Comfort Inn a couple of blocks away but the rate and room amenities would be the same as the GEM. Fine. I landed and call the GEM to confirm and found out I was in fact being moved to a Comfort Inn at Midtown. I arrived at the Comfort Inn, which apparently is under the same management as the GEM and found out I was in the last room available. A room without a working bedside lamp, no remote control and visibly dirty. Though I have never stayed at the GEM I am fairly certain this was not a comparable trade. Pretty sleazy in fact, describes both the Comfort Inn and the way the whole thing was handled.

Stayed here 31Aug for five nights, Great hotel, very pleaseant staff, free internet in business centre, only one downside...No safe in rooms...No safe at reception desk....I feel they should have something in place where guests can keep valuables...Otherwise great location Great hotel and value for money..
