This was the filthiest hotel it has been my misfortune to have seen. My friend and I arrived at 1am on 9th December '06 after long flight from Aberdeen Scotland hoping for warm bath and clean bed. The bed was cockroache infested and the bathroom was disgusting. The lift was rickety at best and a strange smell permeated the corridors. We HAD to leave. Anyone booking this hotel be warned, why it hasn't been closed down I'll never understand. I read some of the reviews (before we arrived but unfortunately after we had paid)hoping they were exaggerated but they didn't even begin to describe the filth I only hope I've saved someone the disappointment of staying there.

The room (425) was dirty, we had to ask the change the bed duvet as it was ripped and stained, not what you expect at a hotel.

The elevator, and front lobby looked very dark and uninviting.. as did the dreary hallways. I was unimpressed with the windows and lack of a view as well.

Surprising pleasant! This hotel reminded me and my companion of the hotels you might find in Italy. It must have been an apartment building turned hotel. Don’t let the small lobby and shabby hallways fool you. The room we had was HUGE and the bathroom was really quite nice. For a quick stay in NYC - can’t beat it. It isn’t really near main attractions, but will definitely consider staying here again.

Price is reasonable for Manhattan. There's an underground station on the corner of the street and Central Park is only 3 or 4 blocks away so despite being on 94th the location is still good.

Dirty, no bathtub stoppers, overpriced. Prices change dramatically, eg, $98 to $350 for same room (King bed, non smoking).. a ripoff. Elevators did not work on last visit.

The service was not good, and the rooms left a lot to ask. In the hallway it was dirty, and the beds very short. The location rather good, but for the price - not worth it!!

If you want to sleep don’t go here When we got to our rooms (we had two non-smoking rooms) they both smelled heavily of smoke. We called down to verify they were non-smoking rooms and they said they were. The carpets were heavily stained to the point were I told my children to not take their socks off.The wallpaper and paint were both pealing off.We took our showers in the smallest and grungiest shower I have ever been in.As we were getting in bed the whole building started shaking, because the heat was coming on.We hoped this would be the only time this happened, but we were sadly mistaken.Every 45 minutes for the rest of the night the pipes would start shaking. The only way to describe the sound would be if you were to take a hammer and start banging on the radiator for 3-5 minutes.I made a complaint to the front desk and they told me that is the way it is.After getting home from my mini vacation to NYC I complained to their corporate office. They sent me a gift certificate for $75,which I would have ripped up and thrown in their face if I could have.I was then told by a women at corporate that hot water radiators do that.I tried to explain to her that it only does that because there is air in the pipes and if the hotel really wanted to fix it they could. She didn’t want to hear my reasoning. So I paid a bunch of money for the pair of rooms, didn’t get any useful sleep all night and they sent me a $75 gift certificate.Take my advice,do not book a room at this dump.

The picture on the web looks nice but once you get there, it's not like that at all. The charge was a bit expensive for the quality of hotel. Service was bad, since there was "safe box" that I didn't know about and was charged for it. I argued with the clerk who supposedly took off the charge but it showed up on my credit card statement which is a bad business practice. Location was good, it was surrounded by 24 hrs shops and fruit stands, you won't go hungry there. It was close to the subway, just have to cross the narrow street. Overall expereience was ok, could have been better.
