This hotel has the best location ifyou plan to do the tourist-type activities in NYC and plan to go to the theatre. We were merely blocks from everywhere. Subway is only 1.5 blocks away. Nice theme rooms and Rick's Cafe provided continential style breakfast and wine and cheese receptions every day. Staff was courteous and freindly. This will be my NYC hotel!

This is a jewel in the heart of Times Square. We stayed 4 nights to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary and were very pleased with our stay. The hotel is kept in immaculate condition and the staff are courteous and helpful. The free breakfast (which consists of fresh squeezed orange juice, milk, cereals, bagels, croissants, fresh fruit assortment, coffee, tea) and evening wine and cheese (about 5 different cheeses and 3-4 wines with red grapes - all nicely presented in Rick's cafe on the second floor of the hotel) are big pluses to this Manhattan hotel. The best thing about the place is its proximity to the Theater district and Central Park. It's literally about 50 yards from the center of Times Square! You go out all day in the city and then come back to this little quiet resort - it's a perfect place to rest after a bustling day. They even have about 50 movies in their library they will let you use free of charge in your room.

Staff were happy to help, very kind, gracious and friendly. The room was perfect for the two of us, very comfortable and cozy. Complimentary breakfast and afternoon tea, wine and cheese were beautifully done in Ricks Cafe. They even had Coffee, tea and cookies around the clock. This was great when you are tired after walking around NY. This cafe was warm and inviting and allowed you to talk to other guests. I loved it!

After reading the reviews here, I thought that I would try the hotel out. The hotel was excellent for the following reasons: (1) location (right next to Times Square); (2) staff - extremely friendly, helpful and courteous; (3) ambience - romantic and classy; (4) the room - although relatively small (the hotel was built a long time ago), the room was cosy, romantic and extremely comfortable with every conceivable amenity (including a CD player); (4) the evening wine and cheese - a lovely touch and great way to start the evening; (5) the excellent continental breakfast; (6) a computer with internet access in Rick's bar; (7) the excellent Italian restaurant next door that can be accessed via a private door from the hotel. In a word, excellent - I plan to always stay there when visiting NY.

We came here for a romantic getaway weekend. Things turned out great in the end, but began on a very disappointing note. The Superior room was a little bigger than a closet. Day 2 we upgraded to a King sized bed and it was much nicer, though...
