Buckingham Hotel - New York

Although the Buck is cheap and the rooms spacious, during my stay they were not kept clean. As a matter of fact, I was given a room with the last guest's garbage still in the kitchen. Nice! There was a broken light and the bathroom sink didn't drain at the time of check in. There were cigarette ashes in the bedroom next to a nightstand that never did get vacuumed. The bathroom was supplied with new towels each day but I don't think it was cleaned regularly. The sheets were definitely not changed during the 2nd week of a 2-week stay. Suspect they weren't changed at all. Hotel staff was disinterested at best. One recommendation for dinner was so bad, I never asked again. One morning, I tiptoed out so I didn't wake the frontdesk attendant. Shhh...

When we arrived, we couldn't believe the size of the suite and the incredibly central location. Some furnishings and the bathroom were tired but the kitchenette was equipped well and the sofa bed was new. TV in bedroom and lounge.

It looked to me like it had been a very long time since any repairs had done. No exhaust fan in bathroom,some tiles on floor were starting to lift,sheers on windows were dirty as were the venetian blinds,and the air conditioner was very noisy.The one thing that we really liked was the little kitchenette in the room.

+Room and conveinience

I actually got the hotel to throw a surprise birthday party for my girlfriend. I decided on renting out a king-sized suite, and first off let me tell you the room was fantastic. Very clean, and done up very nicely.

After arriving to the hotel the staff did not help us with our bags nor greeted us as if we did not exist. i can understand some of the employee's are from the urban area but that doesn't excuse the lack of training they've received in proper greetings. i'm not a picky type of guy so i let this go. after arriving to our room we had a weird smell in the room as if something old has been staying in our room for a century.. the bathroom sink was nice but the tub was disgusting! it was worse than a runned down motel room on a horror movie. the bathroom toilet paper handle was broken and the carpet was disgusting.. the carpet was this off dirty red color form the 60's and hasn't been washed in years.. we decided to sleep on the couch since the bed too had an awful smell..

+The location is excellent! -Room's are too warm.

I enjoyed the extra space I got with my room at Buckingham. It almost felt like I was staying with a friend, and I could cook or have my lean cuisine easily!
