I chose the Bentley because it's close to where some friends of mine live in the Upper East Side. The price was relatively cheap, and though I had seen a couple of negative reviews I decided to give it a try. I was on a cruise for the weekend, and elected to spend Sunday evening (10/24/04) at the Bentley before heading home the next day.

The view from the 18th floor was incredible to the point i slept with the blinds open. The view of the river was beautiful at night, and so was the skyline. I really do recommend this hotel. The only problem, which isn't major, is the hallway is so dark. It feels more like an apartment than a hotel.

Not impressed I was not impressed with the hotel service or the maintenance of the hotel. The first night was actually ok. The second day the air conditioner was not working at cooling the room very well. The third day the air conditioner did not work at all. It actually put out heat (or hot air). I did not realize the severity of this issue until I went out of the room and realized the difference in the quality of the air. I was up all night the last night of my trip and sick for the next two days. I expected better room conditions. Little effort was made to welcome quest. I felt like I was not at a hotel at all. Did not realize there was one of the few gas stations in NY in the same space as the hotel. Noisy and dirty outside of the hotel as well. Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay Stay some where else. I wish I had.

From the beginning at Check-In with the friendly pleasant staff, to the nice clean modern rooms. The hotel was great! I would return again for any of my future visits. It was a bit out of the way for the location, but the walk was nice to the subway station, or just a short cab ride to your destination.

The place in really great, maybe not the best location if you are a tourist that wants to move in the subway, but not far at all, I never paid more than 11 USD to go from here or to here from anywhere in Manhattan by taxi. And also is 6 medium size block from the subway.

Will Never Go Back This Hotel was extremely disappointing. Regardless of the fact that my stay was during Memorial Day Weekend, there was no room service available. The "so-called" room service menu was no where to be found and the "restaurant" was closed for approx 80% of my stay. The breakfast was barely Continental, with the only protein available being hard-boiled eggs. In addition, it was by far the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in. Every night, all night, I could hear every door slam on my floor (and probably others). The "mini-bar" was dusty. The basic toiletries (shampoo and conditioner) were MIA. The only saving grace was the high quality bed linen. Traveler's tip The only benefit of this hotel was it’s proximity to the NYP Cornell Weill Medical Center. It is a quick six block walk if you have a family member you need to visit.

I was very pleased with the upgrade to a jr suite, and the decor was very pleasing.

The Bentley hotel is very nicely decorated, spacious rooms. What I missed is that you could't have breakfast in the room, and that there were no bar in the entrance to take a coffe or a glass of wine while waiting for a taxi. Staff very nice and helpful in the reception.

I loved the excellent upper east side location, the great shops and the restaurants nearby. With the exception of one nighttime front desk person, the staff was fantastic. The hotel is very chic and a great value. I have stayed there on several occasions and I have had nothing but positive experiences each time. It is a true hidden gem in Manhattan.
