Nice place in a fabulous location. Rooms are very spacious and well kept but it has not been "updated" in quite a while. I rarely stay anyplace else in NYC.

small personal hotel in one of the city's best locations- the absence of a coffee shop is compensated by convenient deli across the street- for the budget minded seeking quality and personal attention from the small friendly staff.

-Rooms are very small, we had room on 3th floor it was very dark and noisy, it was not a breakfast but only coffe, tee and coupe of pastryes. Very uncomfortable all except location.

Decor was circa 1970 with mirrored, flocked wallpaper and garish red carpet. Peeling wallpaper abounded in the room and common areas. Room was large (two walk in closets), but appointments were bizarre. Lobby gave the feel of a methadone clinic. Elevator felt unsafe and was slow, as there was only one operator on duty. Linens appeared clean, but carpet (black spots on pink carpet in room) and other areas were of questionable cleanliness. Shower curtain was severely mildewed.

We have been staying at The Wyndham every year for the past ten years. For the money, it's the best buy around. The location is superb: one block south of Central Park, one block from Fifth Avenue shopping, and around the corner from a subway station. There is no bar or restaurant in the hotel, but there's a dynamite coffee shop/cafe around the corner, and a variety of bars and restaurants are within easy walking distance.

I travel a lot. This time I heard about AKA and I wanted to give it a chance and was excitedö but it turned into a nightmare. We got there after an 11 hour of flight. Just in the middle of the night the toilet got stucked. The staff attitude was terrible. Especially the gu named "JOSE" in the front deski even said he cannot do anything. We wanted to cancel the next night and they said they cannot and made us wait for the management to wake up. The worst experience I have ever had. We were going to AKA westchester after here, we immediately cancelled. Never go to AKA.... I mean it.

Definitely recommended The AKA Central Park was the most accomodating hotel I've stayed in. The staff was most courteous, giving directions, making dinner reservations, hailing cabs. . . you name it. The rooms were immaculate, insulated from much street noise, and well stocked with microwave, frige, and sinks. The location was ideal; we will definitely return!
