Great location-great staff The Windermere Hotel was created from two town-homes. It has a great location within an easy walk from Victoria Station (trains, subway and buses), shopping and restaurants, even the Apollo Theatre and the paired restaurant where we had a pre-theatre dinner and then saw a fabulous performance of Wicked. We walked to Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey. Negatives- the Windermere has no elevator, a narrow staircase, small rooms, and no air-conditioning. Positives- the Windermere is clean and welcoming, has a great location, a friendly, efficient and upbeat staff, a delicious included breakfast and an on-site restaurant.

I arrived first and rented a single room. It was very clean with modern decor. My wife and son (age 16) joined me the next day and we were moved to a triple room. It was older style and had 2 double beds, which was excellent. Later in our travels we found

Lovely, small and friendly This was a lovely small simple hotel which was clean and comfortable with really friendly staff. We ate in the restaurant when we got there late and the food was simple, tasty and affordable. I would definitely go back.

Staff & welcome was excellent. All staff were very helpful. It was my first visit to London, & we got some very good tips on things to do in London. Some extra effort that the staff and management did for us: Printed out a map & list of local Indian restaurants, allowed us to take Tour Bus tickets and pay later(as we had no cash at that point), held our bags on the last day so we could maximise our time in London. All in all, we felt very welcome and at home! The only small downside was our room size & location. It was at very top of the hotel and only accessable by stairs - I think we may have got this as we requested non smoking - and as we are still reasonably fit it was not a big issue. The room was small but comfortable. The main issue here is the room has an ensuite which is very cramped - shower does not suit tall people and no hand basin. There was a handbasin in the bedroom.

My family and I stayed here for 4 days back last March. The hotel is located in a fairly nice neighborhood and approx. a ten min. walk from the nearest tube (underground subway) station. The hotel is very personal, only having 20 rooms. The staff ...
