To our good surprise the hotel had taken into consideraton our requests through hotel.de for early check in, smoking room and lower floor. It is easy and a great pleasure to work with the reservation system of hotel.de

Not impressed I stay at exclusively 4 or 5 star hotels. I found the staff rude and unhelpful. I would never go back to this hotel and this is the first negative review I have ever made.

Unless you want to wear a coat and tie 24/7 don't stay. At check in they will high pressure you to upgrade your room at a hefty charge when you are already paying top dollar. If you don't upgrade you will get a very tiny, worn room.

Not as good as anticipated. Maybe a tip top place for High Tea but didn't really perform for me as a guest. Stayed in many more superior 5 stars than this. Glad I've tried it but wouldn't rush back.

Formality Rules The Ritz is a nice hotel but carries the formal theme too far. Men must have a tie on to even enter the bar and restaurant area. My business associates could not meet me at the hotel for a drink becasue today’s world is business casual - no ties. Security patrols the lobby eying all who enter with such scutiny it made us feel uncomfortable to walk in even though we were hotel guests. There are other hotels in London in the same price range where it is much easier to relax.

The gold standard of London hotels Everyone should stay in a hotel like The Ritz at least once in their life. The quality of service is exceptional. There is a strict dress code of jacket and tie for the bar and dining room which some people may be put off by but the friendliness of the staff brought a perfect balance of old school tradition without being made to feel uncomfortable. And the dining room is perhaps one of the finest in any London hotel. The whole building has the feeling of a luxury ocean liner.

During the 90's I worked back of house at the Ritz. I have to tell anyone who wants to stay there, take afternoon tea, dinner in the Marie Antoinette Restaurant or attends a function there. It is probably the most Customer Service Concious organisation I have ever seen in action. From Luc Delafosse the General Manager down to the Hall porters, service really does mean SERVICE. Sadly the staff are not treated as well as the customers but that will change no doubt as time goes by. Enjoy your stay here and be sure that nothing is ever deliberatly done to make a guest stay less than perfect.

Undershoots typical Ritz standards soooo overpriced. 40$ for a lobster bisque with not a shred of lobster. no bottle opener or ashtray/matches in a room that's a smoking room. Had to buy the notebook electricity adapter from minibar for 40$. service slow and hotel infrastructure ancient. on top of all that-way overpriced. go to asia for value and service...
