We paid for a 'delux' room instead of the 'standard' and were very dissappointed. Of the two windows in the small room, both faced 3 brick walls, and nothing else. Try looking at nothing but a brick wall! Not nice. Because of this, the room had to have all the lights on even during the daylight as there was absolutely no natural light. The room was tastefully decorated, but tiny. And the bed was smaller than a standard double. I'm only 5ft 10", and my feet were hanging over the edge. I pressume that at some point our room would have been either a storage room or staff quarters- they should have kept it that way. For the price we paid, it was awful.

This is a beautiful, clean, modern hotel based in a beautiful and historic building in the centre of London. The entire experience was fabulous, from check in to leaving. Staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. The room was wonderful, clean, well equipped and comfortable, with a view over the river to the London Eye opposite. Breakfast was excellent, with lots of staff running round, tidying and replenishing. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would certainly return there myself.

Opulant, mysterious. Think, the Shining. Spacious rooms. Convenient, Clean and friendly ghosts. the structure itself is imposing and stately. High ceilings kicked ass. Service dignified and silent.

This is an older hotel with modern conveniences. I have stayed there every time I visit London 5+ times per year. The location is quiet by the river (after 11:00 on weekends), best to get a Riverview room. Breakfast is very good. Staff is friendly and helpful. At certain times, like Christmas, the hotel is special in creating a good atmosphere. The facilities are above average for a London hotel i.e. wireless internet through BT Openzone, laundry, nice bar area, lounge for real English afternoon tea and good restaurant. The rooms are generally larger than what you expect in London. Some rooms are a wee bit tired and could do with a coat of paint, but it is understood that a redecoration program will take place next year. Overall, I always stay at Royal Horse guards when in London on for business and pleasure for the staff, location and rooms.

Big disappointment This has to be one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. Initially we were put in a room just slightly larger than the double bed. Paint peeling from the walls in the bathroom and the air conditioning didn't work. After being moved to a different which was admittedly larger we thought all was going to go well. That was until 0745 the next morning when the loud banging started. After talking to reception I was told that this was renovation work which was taking place. This happened every morning of our trip including Sunday. We also left the do not disturb sign displayed but house keeping still came in and tidied the room. On checkout our bill was also inaccurate. For what is supposed to be an upmarket hotel it was a huge letdown!!

My stay was pleasant, except for the shock of originally being checked into a room with NO window. Upon inquiry, it was explained that an upgrade would be required, for a minimum of 20 pounds($40) more a night.
