Nice Budget Hotel Oxford Hotel is a hotel that I always tries to stay at whenever I come to London. It's clean and the staff is nice. The down part is that it's no lift so I don't recommend it for families with small children. I like the fact that it's located on a quiet street very close to the beautiful Kensington Garden.

London Oxford Not a bad hotel reception is clean and staff friendly. The room too is mostly acceptable but put off a bit by the smelly shower/toilet. Would stay here again.

Great Location!!! First the bad news, we were on the 4th floor and the walk up the steep and narrow steps is not fun. Second, the pillows are rock hard and only an inch thick. I encourage anybody to bring their own pillows. Now the good news, everything else was great. You couldn’t ask for a better location. We were within a short walking distance (5 min. max) of 2 tube stations, Paddington and Lancaster Gate, which gave us access to 6 or 7 lines, making travel around London very easy. Plus, there are so many great little cafes, pubs and restaurants around so whether we wanted to eat finer food (try Olio’s) or just casual food (Taste of India, or pub food at the Swan) you had your choice. The service was fantastic. We needed a wake up knock (there are no phones in the room) and they were very prompt. There is no internet service in the hotel specifically, but it’s close enough to pick up on the free wireless from one of the cafe’s located around the corner, which we took advantage of. Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks Get the London Pass with transportation! It saved us over $300 dollars on transportation and entry fees. We took the Salisbury, Bath, and Stonehenge tour and it was awesome. Very well organized, and well worth the money. There is a Barclays Bank ATM next to the Mitre Pub. Barclays does not charge you ATM fees and you get a fair and current exchange rate.

Cheap and cheerful Booked this hotel based on other reviews. The room was small and basic but suited us for a one night stay. Very close (5 minutes) from Lancaster Gate tube station and the North side of Hyde Park. Oxford Street is only 10 minutes walk away. The Mitre Pub on the same road serves nice lunchtime sandwiches. Would stay here again for a short stay for sight seeing and shopping.

Dirty The positives of this hotel cannot overcome the unacceptably unsanitary condition of the room. Upon arrival we discovered what was likely pubic hair on the toilet seat and more hair embedded in the pillowcases. I realize that this is a two star hotel, but many clearly visible hairs from previous guests is completely ridiculous and made me suspect the cleanliness of the rest of the room. In addition, although this was not a problem for us, there is no elevator and all luggage has to be hauled up a very narrow, steep, and winding staircase. However, the hotel is conveniently located at a ten minute walk from Paddington Station and is near many restaurants and grocery stores as well as a large public park. Overall, the overwhelmingly unsanitary condition of our room overshadowed what was otherwise a decent hotel for the price and we would never stay there again.

Perfect for a London Sightseer The Oxford is located in an excellent area for sightseeing in London. It is within 5 minutes walking distance of 2 Underground Stations (Lancaster Gate on the Central Line and Paddington on the District, Circle and Hammersmith Lines) and Hyde Park. There are several restaraunts, grocery stores and pubs nearby (I already miss The Mitre). The continental breakfast is very simple, but I wasn't staying there to be in the hotel 24/7. The staff is very helpful and friendly and the room was very clean; housekeeping did a great job. The room was standard small for Europe, but it's perfect if all you need is a bed, sink toilet and shower. The microwave and minifridge also came in very handy. I would definitely stay there again.
