Some good aspects, but also several bad ones Struggled with what review to give. Stayed here 9 nights in Jun-08 with my niece. Location near Paddington was good. Sure, room & bathroom were small, but it was generally clean (few bugs). Decent price. Staff-mostly friendly. Overall, not bad, but will look elsewhere next time. Ultimately, the following were the negatives. 1. Biggest issue was the very obnoxious fire alarm going off 5 times during our stay--4 of those times we were asleep. All were false alarms-- smokers in the room or steam from showers were given as possible reasons. 2. Had to wait at the locked front door several times to get in. 3. Toilet seat was loose & slid when you sat on it. 4. Shower did not drain right in AM, but did in PM. 5. Breakfast was good, but is same every day, which got very tiring & most of it did not appeal to teen palate. 6. Concierge convinced us to take a taxi to the airport instead of Heathrow Express. He called a friend who was late, not an official taxi, drove like crazy, & took us to the wrong terminal. Ended up on the Heath Exp to get to right one. 7. Limited TV stations & no remote--we were barely in the room, but struggled to find stuff to watch & then we had to get up to turn it off because of no remote. 8. Per another review, we asked for a room off the main floor. We ended up with one in the basement--right next to the breakfast room. So we got lots of noise of people going to/from/eating breakfast in the AM. 9. No hand towels/wash cloths or extra towels for this purpose.

You get what you pay for Pretty cheap and in good location. However, room is basic and furniture worn, walls need repainting, service wasn't very professional. Suitable for students or similiar as it was clean and not expensive, but nothing too classy!

It is apparant that the smallest rooms are used for clients who only stay for one night. No lift and no assistance offered to carry bags up four floors. No facilities for breakfast for early departures(7-30 breakfast)

Modest Hotel in London This hotel is a small clean hotel located about 3 blocks from Paddington Underground station. The double bed room was small with a clean bathroom/shower that suited our needs, but was defiantly not a hotel you stay at to spend all day relaxing at. If you are going to London to see the sights all day and need a place to sleep, shower and eat, this is your hotel. The English breakfast was very nice and was not cooked until we ordered it. There are many bus stops and underground tube stations close by, Paddington is the closest. There is NOT an elevator so if you have a room upstairs, be prepared to carry your luggage up some narrow, steep staircases. The hotel is in the middle of a row of other similar hotels that are converted old upscale homes from the late 1800s early 1900s. Would I stay here again? Sure, if the price was the same.

Not bad for the price. The hotel was actually a decent bargain. The place was a little older, and did not have air conditioning (I visited on a particularly hot couple of days). However, the location was good and the included breakfast each morning was great.

Normandie Hotel is not "recently completely renovated to a very high standard". Don´t belive in their photos. Avoid room nr 1. Had to wait 2 nights for another room. There was no hotel highlights! Breakfast was ok.
