The Nayland Hotel is a Paddington hotel that is completely refurbished and jumped to being one of the finest budget choices in the area. There is an automatic lift to all floors at the Hotel Nayland to lead you to lovely single rooms, double rooms, twin rooms and family rooms. Traditional English Breakfast is included in your room rate and served in the Breakfast Room. Other refreshments are available throughout the day in the lounge. The Nayland Hotel has reception staff 24 hours a day and amenities such as pharmacies, hairdressing saons, restaurants, cars, shopping and banks are within short walking distance. Lancaster Gate and Paddington underground stations are a short walk from the hotel and Heathrow is only 15 minutes from Paddington. Hotel critic Harrison Brown found the Nayland Hotel to be completely refurbished, with nicely decorated and appointed rooms with everything looking and feeling new. One of the better 2 star budget hotels in the area with neutral colors and pleasant surroundings. Good value around £65 per double with buffet breakfast and a lift to all floors. Definitely worth a budget stay.

Excellent location and only a 2 minute walk from Paddington station which is great for people using the Heathrow express and for those wanting to use the tube. Hotel staff very helpful and provided a welcome pack including a map of the area, a tube map and a list of the bus numbers. The hop on hop off bus is located a minute away, just around the corner. Great location which has plenty of pubs, internet cafes, take aways, shops and a post office - all only a couple of minutes walk away. Paddington Station also has a couple of supermarkets. Hyde Park is less than a five minute walk. Room size was okay compared to other hotels in the same area. Luggage is stored in a hotel a few doors away. Breakfast was basic but good. Would stay here again and recommend to others.

Room was small but clean, and equipments were generally all right. But in the second day, there was a small trouble about room key. A kettle for coffee-making in the room was preferable.

Very central position, we walked from Paddington Stn. Restaurants, pubs & shops all very close. Staff had some difficulty understanding English but were exceptionally helpful. Room & bathroom was spotless although the room size was really small compared to other small hotels of the same price range in Rome & Paris. Breakfast was basic but plentiful. We would definately stay there again. It was a great choice for 2 people wanting to see London & be money smart!

The hotel is close to the Heathrow Express train at Paddington Station (two blocks) which was much appreciated after the flight from Australia - took me five minutes to walk from station to hotal with my bag. Close to underground and buses (off-peak day pass after 9:30am is '4.30). The neighbourhood has a few cafes, bars and restaurants (Mimo's is good if you want a full breakfast), internet place, drycleaners, souvenir shops and dozens of B&Bs - just about everyone is a tourist. If you are a non-smoker, be sure to check if they have non-smoking rooms - I didn't make a specific request but it was a smoking room (I am a smoker so not a problem for me). The Nayland is value for money, recommended if you want a centrally located place near the tourist spots and a clean and quiet room to sleep and shower. Active Hotels had very good rates, much cheaper than rack rates.

- breakfast was a little disappointing - should serve orange juice rather than orange squash - coffee tasted more like instant than perculated. I believe these 2 points alone would lead to much more satisfied stay and cost very little to implement.

Small but adequate room & bathroom. Very good location for tube & buses to Oxford Street & Trafalgar Square. Breakfast not great.
