Maranton House Hotel - Hsd

14 Barkston Gardens - SW5 0EN London

Maranton House is a small, family run Georgian hotel located on a leafy side street off Earl's Court Road in Kensington, West London. The 15 guestrooms vary in size, shape and décor but all have high ceilings, windows that open, coffee/tea makers, televisions, and tiled bathrooms with showers and bidets. Dial up Internet is also available for those with laptops. The renovated Georgian building has a sunny breakfast room that serves cooked and continental breakfasts, and which converts to a bar in the evening, with French doors leading to a patio. Room service is also available. Earls Court Exhibition Centre is across the road from the hotel and 'Museum Row' comprising of the Natural History Museum, Science Museum and V&A Museum is one mile away. Those in need of retail therapy will find Harrods, Harvey Nichols and the designer boutiques of Knightsbridge 1.5 miles away, just three stops by tube. Heathrow airport is located 14 miles (22 kilometres) from the hotel, a drive of approximately 30 minutes. The Heathrow Express train service to London Paddington Station leaves every 15 minutes. The airport is also on the Underground's Piccadilly Line, which takes passengers directly to Earls Court tube station, 150 meters from the hotel. London's black taxi cabs also service Heathrow Airport. Bus services include the Airbus Heathrow shuttle to London Victoria or King's Cross railway stations.

Not for me I stayed for three nights, using it as a place to sleep and nothing more. Room 20 at the top of the staircase looks nothing like the 'photos on the site, the bathroom appeared to show signs of mould (?) around the shower. The overall quality of the room was poor - you can tell this when the portable TV has nothing more than a wire loop for an aerial and nothing would persuade it to provide a clear picture.

This hotel is old. Our room was dusty and smelled like mold. The toilet took 15 min to fill up after each flush, which was very inconvenient. The shower head was broken and just hung limp off the wall, and the shower door did not shut all the way, so th

We appreciated the fact that the hotel is very close to Earl's Court station and Picadilly line, as it is easy to reach Heathrow airport and most of the points of interest. This time we did not have a nice room, it was on the third floor, and the bathroom and toilet were definitely not ok. We know other rooms at this hotel which are much better and which we would very much like to stay in again, but certainly not in the room we had this time.

The Hotel at itself was ok. Near the Tube but quiet road, very close to some restaurants and pubs. The worst thing was breakfast. It was absolutely uneatable, for two persons two black burned toasts and a at least three days old croissant. Sausage and cheese weren`t eatable as well. We would stay again in the Hotel but without breakfast.

the double bed is unacceptably small unless you happen to be two sardines sharing it; extra bedding availble is uncomfortable and obsolete; room is stifling; breakfaast is scanty/unimaginative and if you happen to turn up at 9.30 sharp you can't even get a cup of tea. The bathroom is clean and perfectly adequate - one quaint note: you are given courtesy biscuits each day but only one lot of courtesy foam/shampoo no matter how long your stay is! The staff is polite and the people we spoke to do their best.

This hotel is old. Our room was dusty and smelled like mold. The toilet took 15 min to fill up after each flush, which was very inconvenient. The shower head was broken and just hung limp off the wall, and the shower door did not shut all the way, so the bathroom was soaked with each shower. The hairdryer was broken. Breakfast was terrible. They did not even have real coffee- it was instant. I would never stay here again.
