I recently visited the Kensington gardens, and was very, very disappointed. If cost and location are the only issues, this may be for you. If you do not mind the risk of climbing 73 steep stairs and 6 floors, since there is no elevator, and if you do not mind that there is no room for an open suitcase in your room, except your bed, this may still be for you. There appeared to be no connecting rooms, and this is not the type of facility I would recommend for children, and I have three. My room was the width of a twin bed, and about 1-1/2 times as long. There was a sink, small closet, and a shower. The toilet was down 2 steep sets of stairs, and winding turns. My inner room on a cruise ship to the Netherlands was much more spacious. When I arrived late at night, I was told via a buzzer that I had to go next door, go back and up the stairs, and then go up 73 stairs, and around 6 turns in order to gain entry to my room. No simple task, even though I am fairly young, and definitely not what one needs after a long flight, and train ride. On the bright side, the owner was very helpful, and made every effort to make the trip enjoyable, and to help as she could. Facility is also located several blocks from a train station.

A great little place to stay Before going to London, I had to go through many reviews to find a budget hotel that acceptable. All the reviews of the Kensington Gardens Hotel were great and for good reason. Although the room was small(I had a single room), I am told that small rooms is generally what you will find in Europe. The room was clean, the hotel was safe and in a good neighborhood, the staff was excellent. I think that if it wasn’t for the woman at the conceirge desk, the review would be just about average. She was sweet, always made sure I had what I needed and was available at all times to answer questions. I would definitely stay here again and recommend for others to do so as well. Traveler's tip on local attractions Hyde Park and Kensington Palace is about 3 blocks away from the hotel.

Good overall hotel but Yes the hotel was good overall but we had read a comment about a warm room and that happened to be the one we got. It was difficult to sleep because windows had to be open but room was still warm and then we had street noise as well. The owners really should think about doing something with this problem. There is also no elevator. Otherwise it was a decent hotel and overall a good stay.

Beautiful Hotel The room was beautiful and very clean. The hotel may not suit everyone’s needs because there was no elevator in the hotel (we were on the 4th floor!). Breakfast is an extra charge if you choose to eat at the sister hotel next door. I would definitely stay in the hotel again--it was certainly affordable and within a 5 minute walk to the underground stop (Bayswater). Getting to different sites via the underground proved to be pretty easy.

Nice, Small, No Frills Hotel The Kensington Gargens Hotel is located off Queensway, a busy street in the Bayswater area of London, just north of Kensington Gardens. There are lots of good restaurants in walking distance, along with the Whiteley’s shopping mall, Kensington Gardens, and the Notting Hill/Portobello Road area. There are also underground stops for the district, circle, and central lines very close by. It’s a great location! The hotel itself is clean and reasonably well maintained. The bathroom was large for London. The continental breakfast avaialable next door was nothing special, but it was good enough to make a start to the day. The front desk staff was consistently friendly and gave me a nice welcome whenever I returned to the hotel. If stairs bother you, I would not recommend this hotel as there’s no lift. For me, this was only a problem when I arrived and when I left and had to carry my suitcase up and downs four flights stairs. Also, you do have to leave your keys at the front desk whenever you go out and pick them up at the hotel next door if you return after 8 pm. This didn’t bother me much, but it’s good to know it going in.

Great Hotel A great hotel located a stones throw away from Bayswater station. The room was clean and the beds were extremley comfortable. The hotel receptionist was extremley pleasent and helpful. Also located near some nice restaurants for eating in the evening, a nice little Italina restaurant is right around the corner. Overall great value for money. I would definitely stay there for my next trip.
