+ staff was helpful, had internet connection, close to victoria station, safe place, it was clean - the bathroom was extremely small and in need of some repair around the shower stall and walls.

+ Friendly staff; good breakfast; central - Not advised of climb to top floor - didn't matter, but some people might not manage it. The 'en-suite was tiney pre-formed plastic cubicle - not nice - and no shampoo was provided.

+ place of the hotel was good, pleasant staff - Shower didn't get hot (Room 50). Room smelled of smoke, and was a bit tatty.

+ Closeness to Victoria - Finding out about rooms available upstairs that would have cost me much less and suited me perfectly - not available on the net so I don't know until I am there.

The furnishings of my single were certainly adequate, but the size and layout (picture about twice the width of a twin mattress, maybe, and 2-1/2 times as long as the length) of the room left something to be desired. This was another of those rooms where you could barely open the doors on the narrow-but-tall wardrobe. The windows were old-time solid but the ropes for the sash counterweights were broken so the window wouldn't stay open without a prop. Nice, up-to-date shower hampered by being in too tight a bath making it hard to get through the shower doors. There was a broadband internet connection in the room (Ethernet jack) but no help on using it (which is an issue hardly unique to this hotel). I honestly don't have much sense for what 50 pounds is *supposed* to get you in London these days, but this is probably about what you'd expect. I read a LOT of reviews before finally deciding on this one. Because of that, I want to be clear I'm only talking about the *one* room I experienced here. If you get my room, you'll know what to expect!
