As we planned to spend a weekend in London with a couple friends, we were looking for an affordable place to sleep. The City Inn Express Hotel was a good value for money. The personel was very helpful and accomoding (reception desk open 24/24). And although the outside apearance was a bit frightening, the common parts were pretty nice. The rooms were not impeccable but the bathrooms were brand new and perfectly clean. Please note that the rooms overlooking Mare street can be a bit noisy (overall acoustic isolation could be improved). Concerning the location, it's in Zone 2, a couple bus stops from the central line (Bethnal green station), all in all about 35 minutes from King's Cross/St Pancras. The neighborhood is safe and you can purchase bus travel pass from the grocery shop across the road. If you're looking for an affordable place to stay, I would recommend this hotel.

+ I did not stay at the hotel as soon as I saw the room, it was awful and could not possibly stay there, the headboards on the beds were filfthy. The hotel is not even a 2 Star hotel. - Kettles could be provided in all rooms.

+ Good value for money for a fairly central location. Staff helpful and room clean. - Shower obviously had a leak and was just taped up with gaffer tape instead of being mended.

+ 24 hour reception, good travel links, breakfast was good.Not the best hotel but it is cheap for London, you get what you pay for - Wireless internet connectivity could be made faster and provided in all rooms.
