Chiswick Hotel

That rooms at the front of the hotel were very noisy from heavy traffic all through the night.

£120 per night for one person with hot breakfast NOT INCLUDED is a lot of money for this hotel, although it is in a popular area. (the Hilton in Islington is the same price and FAR swankier for example). The large bright clean room had disappointingly grubby net curtains and filthy windows (because of very busy road). The secondary glazing did not close properly. The clean bathroom smelled horribly of smoke (previous occupier). Smoke detectors? The cooked breakfast was good value and absolutely delicious (£1.25 per item). As I need a regular place in the area I would go back here for the breakfast and large room and the place is half the price of the (beautiful) Chiswick Moran up the road. web page instuctions to Hotel from Heathrow inaccurate (Turnham Green tube staion shut most of the time). Breakfast not included not obviously mentioned.

I was quite dissappointed to discover that there was no Chef available on arrival Sunday late evening. I was told the restaurant is only available Monday to Thursday. This is very poor especially for the price of the room, and I do not believe made clear on the website.

Paying 69 GBP per night for this hotel in any other city would probably be considered as a theft, but it's widely known that London hotels are extremely expensives, so all in all I think the price for Chiswick hotel was fair. I had a quite small but comfortable room, bathroom included, reasonably quiet (the room was located in a second building, behind the courtyard, with only two other rooms neighbouring) and the breakfast was included (which means coffee or tea, juices, corn-flakes, toast and jams, you have to pay if you want bacon, eggs, etc). I asked to pay in euro but they didn't accept it, requesting only GBP. Besides that, the staff was nice and helpful. The hotel is in a nice resident area, at 5 min walk from two underground stations, Turnham Green and Stamford Brook, approximately 30 mins by train from Piccadilly and Soho. Ideally located if you fly to Heatrow airport, as the underground station of Turnham Green is on the Piccadilly line (Heatrow - Piccadillly). I booked this hotel the week before travelling, so I didn't have much choice, but should I travel again to London I'd probably consider to stay again there if I don't find anything clearly more convenient.
