I would consider this beautiful boutique hotel property , located overlooking the Mediterranean and beach between Malaga and Fuengirola , the " best kept secret " on the Costa Del Sol . It's within walking distance to the popular marina in Benalmedena that counts great restaurants , shopping , and night life attractions . Aleysa Playa is privately owned and that personal warm hospitality and service were ever present during our entire ten day stay . The property features lush landscaping , a heated outdoor pool , and the units ( 1 and 2 bedrooms apartments ) include fully equipped kitchens , TV / VCR and all the comforts of home . Our 2 bedoom apartment also had a huge, private outdoor terrace where we could sunbathe , enjoy lunch together, and watch the tremendous sunsets over the water . Additionally , an excellent cold and hot buffet breakfast was included in the daily price as well as several internet stations with high speed internet access . Finally , the best news is that the cost was comparable or less per night even for a 1 or 2 bedroom unit than what you would find for a typical , non descript high rise hotel room . My husband , who is a seasoned traveler , agreed that Aleysa Playa puts other lodging properties to shame and he would recommend the property to any travelling party be it singles , couples , or families . It has less than twenty five units so I'm sure advance reservations are highly recommended . Our stay and experience was unforgettable and we look forward to returning again one day to Aleysa Playa .

Look no further. It is quaint and special to the smallest detail. The front desk is terrific. All your queries are attended with very positive results. The location is on the main road but never disturbs you.The bus ride to Tarramolinos[great shopping] and Malaga is 20 and 40 minutes respectfully-costs1.20 Euro. There are beautiful places the other way as well. You must visit Mijas-30 mins. by bus, cost 1.20 .It is a fantastic village with great views of the sea below from on top of a hill.It should be romantic to spend a night here. The aparthotel has a lovely view[ask for the first floor rooms].ALLrooms have a balcony overlooking the sea,a sitting kitchen, bath and bedroom. The settee has a pull out double bed.Breakfast is good-hot and cold- with a choice of eggs, bacon etc. There are lots of good and reasonably priced eating places in the immediate vicinity. The fantastic marina / shopping/eating plaza is a 15 mins. walk down the prominade. All in all I am v. v. impressed. Thanks .HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Like the previous reviewer I agree that this is not the best spot in Spain but the service at this hotel was impeccable. What made the difference was that not only did they get the basics right but they anticipated your needs to great effect. This only comes from being totally dedicated to your customer. We would have given the hotel an excellent rating but it was let down by the breakfast - it was OK, but only that. I guess because the service was so good that our expectations were raised. As we said the area is not the best, but follow the front desk's recommendations- of course go to the Marina the food can be good but also take in the 'old town'. It has a less touristy feel, better shops than the marina and we ate very well at a recommended restuarant - in fact too well and the 20 min walk back was very much needed! We stayed in a one bed apartement and the bathroom could definately have been larger but on the plus side it has a well equipped kitchen that is a real plus if you want to eat in or just prepare a snack. Of course if you just want to lie on the beach or round the pool then this would be a very good choice. If you stay here it is unlikely you will be disappointed.

We just have our stay for 1 night in this hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The hotel is very good and clean as commented by other review. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, especially Laura who has already helped me since my booking through email and also while my stay. Frankly, the hotel's location is not the best as it's not exactly next to the beach. However, we still agree that it's convenient enough as it only take 5-10 mins walk to reach the beach. About the dinner, we haven't tried it in the hotel. There are lots of option along the beach and any of them should be great to let you enjoy a happy dinner. To reach the hotel from Malaga, I would suggest to take the local railway (if not too many luggages) from Malaga to Arroyo De La Miel station (around 30 mins) and then by taxi from the station to the hotel which costs you around 5 Euro (around 5 mins). I haven't tried any other hotel in the area but if you ask whether I would recommend Aleysa Playa, I would say "yes". :)

The Playa Aleysa (or Big Yellow Hotel as we liked to call it !) in Benalmadena Costa is an absolutely beautiful hotel. You get apartments rather than rooms and can choose from either a 1 bedroom apartment or 2 bedroom apartment. We originally ordered a 2bed because you get an extra floor with balcony terrace, sun loungers etc which give you a fantastic view right across the beach/sea and also private sunbathing. But this was 80euros more expensive and as there was just 2 of us we changed our mind and emailed the Hotel reception to switch to a 1bed apartment. When we got there however, the lovely receptionist Laura said she had decided to upgrade us to a 2 bed apartment free of charge as she knew it was a special trip for us (Valentines night) so we were delighted as the views were worth it!! Laura is the nicest member of staff we've met on recent trips abroad, constantly offering advice on where to go, eat, visit etc and on our checking out day she said we could stay in the room as long as we wanted rather than checking out at 12midday, because she knew our flight wasn't until 8pm. All the staff were lovely, choice of breakfast was fantastic, many hot & cold dishes, beautiful outdoor pool (unheated) and you even get a tv, video and dvd player in your room with a video/dvd library downstairs so you can watch films etc in your room which was a nice touch. If we ever go back to Malaga, we will definately stay at Playa Aleysa again as the apartments were fantastic and very roomy and spotlessly clean, and I can't stress enough how lovely and friendly all the staff were, which is quite rare compared to reviews of other hotels that we have read. 10 out of 10 for the Playa Aleysa!!

This hotel is actually in Benalmadena which is a fair way from Malaga. A minor but important point. Attending a language course in Malaga and looking for an hotel in Benalmadena for weekend retreat. Saw this place on Trip advisor and as a result of positive reviews gave it a go. Went back the following weekend, what does that tell you? The first time I arrived it was at about 11.45 and the room was not ready. Within 5 minutes it was, the housekeeping staff having thrown all their resources at the task. Being hungry I asked for a beer and a sandwich only to be told that the cafe/bar did not open until 13.00. 10 minutes later I had my sandwich and beer. Nothing at all is too much trouble for the wonderful staff here to do to help you. The rooms are excellent, the pool area more than adequate and the location superb with everything within walking distance. There are many positive points about this hotel and no negatives; what makes it really special is the wonderful can do attitude of the staff and the manner in which guests are treated. Travelling frequently I am not often massively impressed by an hotel. The Aleysa Playa impressed me. Comfortable, not lavish, excellent value for money, the staff make it outstanding. Highly recommended.

We only stayed one night in this hotel at the end of our holiday, but I wish we had booked for longer. Very friendly staff, excellent apartments, probably the cleanest I have ever stayed in. Close to the beach and places to eat. I would highly recommend this hotel. The two bedroom apartment we stayed in was over two floors with a large roof terrace. Great for a family of four.

Found the Aleysa Playa on a search engine. Looked good so my wife, son and I booked for a few days. Everything was fantastic from arrival to departure. The staff were very helpful; rooms were spacious, clean with a touch of class. Each room has a terrace or balcony overlooking the good size pool and the sea. Breakfast is very good and can be served in your room or balcony at no extra charge. If you want somewhere to "chill out" in the busy Costa then I would recommend this little oasis.

This hotel is wonderful...friendly staff, CLEAN rooms, and a wonderful breakfast. We stayed 2 nights and wished we had booked to stay longer. The rooms are well insulated, once inside our room the outside world melted away. The pool area provides a quiet and peaceful area to relax and enjoy the sun. There is also a small library area with books and DVDs for your use. We will definitely visit again.

As others have said - amazingly helpful and friendly staff esp. Laura and Rhona (think). The rooms are very spacious, comfortable and impeccably clean. There was never any shortage of suggestions of where to eat or what to do. Having a two year old can often be a bother on trips but nothing was too much trouble for the staff. This may be one of the more expensive places in the area but trust me its worth every penny especially judging on some of the other hotels i stayed at in Seville and Granada (and their so called 3 or 4 star rating). I actually booked directly with them and they are willing to negotiate (slightly) so also worth a try especially in off season. Would not hesitate for a second to go back if i needed a hotel in the area. Dave
