Less than two kilometers from the hotel are Barcelona landmarks including the Picasso Museum, Santa Maria del mar Cathedral and La Barceloneta beach. Great location, walking distance to La Rambla and transportation. Great personnel attending, small but excellent restaurant, adequate facilities (pool, bar, internet access, etc). Did not like the exchange Dollars for Euros, you can not win all.

- The bar closed early and the facilities were quite basic for a 4 star

This is most certainly not a 4-star hotel; and not a good value for the money. Lacked amenities and quality of a 4-star hotel. From too few towels, no robe, gouges in the walls to scratched and tired paint in room. Based on this experience, it does not work as well for European hotels. What happens is those hotels that really should not be in the category, use the system to fill rooms at a higher price than the might otherwise be able to obtain.

+ Only 10 minute walk from las rambas. - Swimming pool was closed for repairs, no in house iron, so you were charged for a simply laundry service. next to noise road.

The lobby is ok. They did not have a concierge. The front desk handled it which cause a huge backup at the front desk. The room was not maintained well. The caulking around the tub was brown and done poorly and the shower handle sprayed water everywhere. The carpet seams were poked up throughout the hotel room and common areas. There was no clock in the room at all. The coffee maker had to be moved from the coffee bar area to the kitchen to be used - there was no electrical outlet. The mattress was exceptionally hard (although I liked it). Most people will find it not acceptable. The underground Metro line runs under the hotel. Every time a train ran, you could hear the train (rumble like a tornado) and fell the vibration of the train.

Staff wonderful and helpful, but hotel very much on older side. Room interior old despite recent upgrades (television), bathroom old, and air conditioning did not work in original room.

+ I realised on arrival that i stayed here 14 years ago but when thinking back to my previous stay in barcelona i recalled the location and facilties as very good but couldn't recall the name of the hotel - so it was a very pleasant surprise to be back again at this hotel by accident. the rooms are much brighter than 14 yrs ago, the room service is excellent, very clean rooms, helpful and attentive staff - nothing is a problem - does feel they have been well trained in customer relations. nice touches with soaps and gels etc in bathroom. good location - about 5-10 minute walk to the ramblas, 10 min walk from bus station, and metro station about 3 min walk away. we walkes to picasso museum in 20 mins. the pool on the roof was smallish but very refreshing and a great place to chill ut between 3-6pm before hitting the city for the evening. there are tapas bars and restaurants all within 10 mins on foot in each direction. - The only negative was the noise of the main road outside - there is a taxi rank outside the hotel and the drivers arrive early and seem to talk very loudly and woke me up every day. but the soundproofing probably couldn't be bettered in the rooms and you have to accept that probably there are no places quiet in a city like barcelona - this negative did not detract from the fact that i would rcommend this hotel and its location to anyone wanting a few days break in a good place in a great city.
