Residencia Martí-Codolar

Residencia Martí-Codolar

Avenida Cardenal Vidal i Barraquer, 1 - 08035, Barcelona - 08035 Barcelona

The Residencia Martí-Codolar is an historic house surrounded by lovely gardens in the Vall d’Hebron of Barcelona, Spain near the base of Collserola hill, the spectacular Barcelona backdrop, and the curious XVIII century Laberint d’Horta park complete with topiary or hedge labyrinth. Metro Montbau (line 3) brings you directly to Las Ramblas and the lively centre from this tranquil location. If fine dining is what you seek, don’t miss out on the charming Can Travi Nou located in a XVII century farmhouse cum outdoor patio which serves up traditional Catalan cuisine just 5 minutes walking from the Residencia. Can Cortada is another fabulous dining option: a restored XI century castle without outdoor seating in the gardens just 10 minutes on foot. The Residencia Marti Codolar was built in the XV century where it was used mainly by farmers and later by monks. Merchants were the last to buy it and convert it into a summer residence, retaining the charming traits of a traditional Catalan masia (country house), a monastery and the opulence of a stately manor. Perhaps the combination of these three historical elements has charmed guests to return year after year. All the rooms enjoy natural light, heating and have an en suite bathroom with shower and sink. They generally have 2 single beds, although there are some triples, and are equipped with a desk and chairs. The most striking aspect of the Residencia are the ample gardens surrounding the manor, with enchanting fountains, sculptures and areas to sit and relax. A country manor house just a short metro ride to the centre and within the city limits! The order of the Martí-Codolar Salesian monks are also based on the premises where ecclesiastical sciences are studied. A residence for the monks is located in a separate building. As this is also a centre for religious training, we would appreciate your respect for Catholic values at all times.
