Melia Hotel Barcelona

The hotel is well located in the business center of Barcelona (not the historical center!). Close to the Illa shopping center, Barca stadium. Rooms on top have great views and less noise.

+ Rooms spotless and breakfast very good. - Use of swimming pool was an extra cost not highlighted.

This hotel has two standards of rooms. The ones on the upper floors are modern and very good, except there is no tea/coffee, iron etc which you would expect in a 4 star hotel. However, on the lower floors are 2 star rooms with poor A/C and dingy...

+ its locality and freindly staff

The hotel was lovely but at the end of our 2 day stay I was robbed of my handbag in the hotel lobby while waiting for our bus to go on our cruise. It was done so well planed as there where 66 of us sitting there waiting for the bus when it went missing.

+ Room facilities, spa and restaurant were very good - No English newspapers or tv channels. Way too expensive. You'd expect more for 200 Euros per night.

However, on the lower floors are 2 star rooms with poor A/C and dingy decor. Do not accept one of these rooms. There is not much around this hotel and it is a fair hike to the Metro. The 'piano bar' actually has a piano but for the three nights I was there nobody played it and the bar was virtually empty. Not much in the way of entertainment in this neighbourhood. Excellent breakfast. Look elsewhere.

+ the room was amazing! lovely design and the staff at the hotel were fantastic! - Leaving at 4am no staff available at reception to hand over key and if there were problems with taxi porter qualified to resolve them.

+ Excellent service, Friendly staff & very well maintained room

Clean, modern, comfortable about half an hour from Nou Camp; Taxi ride to most places of interest. Did not seem to nearby Metro
