The Hostal Baires is an impeccable, modern, central and friendly hostel with cosy private rooms on the first floor of a charming XIXth century building near Las Ramblas of Barcelona. Some of the rooms have en suite bathrooms and external balconies. On Avinyó street, the hostel is in the centre of trendy and stylish Barcelona, with loads of little boutiques with unique designs and little café where the trendsetters meet. From here, you are in the heart of the historic quarter, with medieval and gothic buildings and plazas connected by charming narrow streets. The gothic Cathedral, medieval Plaça del Rei and the Roman walls are just some of the sites to be visited and make this city special.When hunger strikes, head to Veronica Café for affordable pizza in the Plaça George Orwell (named after the famous author for his participation fighting against the fascists in the Spanish Civil War). Down Avinyó, past Carrer Ample, is an area filled with bars and cafes- try the Café Plata, a Barcelona classic which has just one house specialty, sardines, which can be washed down with a cool beer.
