Gran Hotel Barcino

Friendly staff, clean rooms, large bed, close to shops Las Ramblas, metro station. All area of attraction, walking distance to the beach/marina.

This hotel was located in the La Rambla area. The surrounding area had a lot of great restaurants but the area didn't seem the entire safe since there were pickpockets around. The room was very small and didn't have air conditioning. The staff was slow and in order to get a pillow or use the in room safe I needed to place a deposit and give them a copy of my passport.

Excellent Location The Barcelona Bus Turistic tours of the city are definitely worthwhile. During our stay you got a book of vouchers with discounts for entry to all sorts of places when you bought the tickets at the Tourist Information Centre. Good way to familiarise yourself with the city and main points of interest.

Overall it was an 3Star Hotel much rather than a 4Star Hotel. Service was not very immpressing and they even charged an extra amount per day for the use of the hotelsave! I would not recommend this hotel at all. The bathroom was shabby and in bad shape.

Do not stay in this hotel! There is no way this hotel deserves four stars. I had no water in the shower - two days in a row! The staff would not help me (reception staff hardly speaks English) or allow me to change rooms. I had to shower in a colleague's room the first day and did not shower the second day. Some rooms (mine!) are ridiculously small - I didn't even have any room to put my suitcase down. In addition I couldn't control the heat in my room: I slept with an open window and ranging heater. I was in Barcelone for a conference and would expect a four star hotel to have internet wifi and a desk in each room, but no. Furthermore, it was noisy. When I complained at check-out, I was completely ignored.

Great place, please dont go with the earlier reviews........ May be they were at a time when the season was high and too many ppl.

Excellent stay for location in a medium-rating hotel. TV was out of order, the same for a bedroom light. If Hotel Barcino want to maximize the service given by the location on map it has to improve the quality of reception employees (they never smile ! may be 'cause we reserved on web ??????). For the first time in my life, more than this, the call me on the phone to tell us we've to go out to allow the cleaning !
