Citypark Pelayo

C/ Pelayo 1 - 08001 Barcelona

Located in the heart of Barcelona, in a strategic quarter between Pelayo and Ronda Universitat streets, next to the Plaza Cataluna and the world famous Ramblas, is the City Park Hotel Pelayo. It is housed in a small, exclusive and majestic bulding typical of Barcelona's architecture. Belonging to the select City Park Hoteles Chain, the City Park Hotel Pelayo makes use of the best advances in technology, while still managing to maintain it's charm. The rooms have all the comfort that a you would expect from a 4 star hotel. Excellent service is not only a goal, it's company policy. Barcelona prides itself on its individuality. The first thing to understand about the region of Catalunya, of which Barcelona is the leading city, is that it is not really Spain, despite the fact that it uses Spanish money, pays Spanish taxes, votes in Spanish national elections and is technically still a part of Spain. It is a semiautonomous region, one that has its own special history and language, which it has fought arduously to preserve. In fact, for years the late Spanish dictator Francisco Franco tried, unsuccessfully, to eradicate the Catalan language and erase the Catalonian identity.

Location, Location, Location! Great areat to be in. You are close enough to Las Ramblas to enjoy it, but just far enough away to get away from it. University is literally across the street and worth the visit. The rooms were nothing to write home about, but if are like us, we just wanted a clean place to stay close to the action. Enjoy!

+ The mornning receptionist - Disinterested afternoon receptionist Sylvia who preferred flirting with young European men. Whilst I appreciate Barcelona hotels are expensive Euros185 for a room the size of a bathroom is ridiculous. David Australia
