Catalonia Duques De Bergara Hotel Barcelona

Calle Bergara 11 - 08002 Barcelona

The 4 star Catalonia Duques de Bergara has a privileged location in the heart of Barcelona, Spain just seconds from Plaza Catalunya and Las Ramblas in a building constructed in 1898 by Gaudi's professor, Emilio Salas y Cortes. Barcelona's pride and joy, Gaudi, was the author of other-worldly constructions dotting the city, and this incredible central location offers easy access to many his works. This includes his master work, Sagrada Familia, and sumptuous residences Pedralbes and Casa Batlló just up the chic Passeig de Gràcia.Cross the plaza to the Old Town and explore the winding narrow streets of this charming area. Sip on a café con leche in one of the leafy plazas lined with graceful historical buildings in this pedestrian area. The hotel is located in the hub of a shopping mecca- Passeig de Gràcia offers high end stores and small, unique boutiques. Nearby Portal de l'Àngel is a little less stressful on the wallet, offering Zara and Mango among other Spanish designers. The hotel has a modern décor, but retains the original marble grand staircase and wrought iron banister leading up to beautiful carved Cuban mahogany doors and original cupola. Its 145 comfortable rooms and 3 suites include interactive cable TV with pay per view channels, wireless internet connection, minibar, strong box for valuables, and air conditioning. 24 hour room service, babysitting arrangements, car rental and money exchange are some of the services provided by the hotel. Marble bathrooms include hair dryer for the use of guests. The roof top pool is a privilege in the heat of the summer. Sit on the deck and get a tan, have a drink in the bar, or try the fabulous cuisine in the hotel restaurant, El Duc. Seven well appointed rooms are available for all manner of events. Public transport from Plaza Catalunya is excellent to all points of the city.

Superb Location A short distance down La Rambla on the right-hand side there is a large supermarket which has a large selection of items at reasonable prices. Ideal for packed lunches if you want to avoid restaurant prices.

I trusted the recommandation of the guide Michelin (which usualy is very good) and was very desapointed. Not only a lot of noice with toilets of the neighbours but also the stinking smell of it!!! Rooms very small. Not worth a 4 star hotel! To expensive for what it was.

We didn't actually end up staying at this hotel, as they had overbooked (intentionally, in our opinion, as their sister hotel had just opened across the road!). But the stay was pleasant, and we would stay there again, but I imagine the prices would be A

The staff of the hotel we found to be extremely helpful at all times of the day. As to location, it was perfect for our desires being right in the middle of points of interest. They made our stay there a very pleasant one.
