Alexandra Hotel Barcelona

You will be absolutely surprised at overall qualities of this hotel. It is at a great location (5 minutes walking from either of the main streets Ramblas and the Diagonal) and one corner away fromt he best restaurants in the City.

Terrible customer service and construction The front desk could not have been more rude. We asked for directions to several major sites in the city and they told us ’to take a taxi. When it came to breakfast, they told us it was included, until we got the bill. There was constant construction all day in the hotel. Lastly, the rooms are an attempt to be ultra modern, but very uncomfortable and not practical for then 1 person.

Staff was very helpful when asked for directions.

+ Location is great...room itself very large for europe, and bed/bathroom excellant,room very quiet - The restaurant&bar were under construction(not available)..the elevator was small,slow,....expected a hotel for the$$$that offered more than check-in and check-out

+ Good location, near to many tourist sites, within walking distance. - Atitude of front desk/reception was poor, almost "can't be bothered". Not helpful at all and did not feel welcomed.

Spent a week in Barcelona at this hotel. The location is just off the Paseo de Gracia in the heart of the city-easy to get to Metro or within walking distance to many of the must see sights. The hotel is quiet and modern with nicely attired rooms. The bathroom was spacious and the walk in marble shower HUGE.... The bed was very comfortable- no morning back aches which I have come to expect from most hotel beds. The staff were unobtrusive and helpful when needed. The restaurant upstairs looked upscale but I never ate there as there were numerous smaller locales nearby including a great tapas bar a block away. Overall I would return in a heartbeat to this hotel in this fabulous city.

+ We booked the superior double room but the room was not up to standard seemed to be in old part of hotel not renovated part complained and staff were extremely helpful and was upgraded to a suite for no extra charge beautiful room and hotel would go back staff very helpful - First room not up to standard but was upgraded to a suite without any fuss

Nice location The hotel is in a nice area which is convenient to many locations you will want to visit. I liked the rooms and the size was decent for the prioce. I did not find the staff to be overly helpful or friendly with selecting a nice place to eat for dinner. Be careful with breakfast, the price is not included in the stay and you will have to pay for it and it is not cheap, even if you have just a coffee and some fruit. I was not aware that the price was not included as it was not explained to me, when I discussed this with the front desk that all I had was coffee and some fruit, they would not budge! One set price, so eat up, go for seconds or thirds!!! Traveler's tip on local attractions Jump on the hop on and hop off bus. It’s a good way to get around and see everything.

The hotel is just a few minutes walk away from the main square in the centre of Barcelona and is ideally located to get to alot of the tourist sights as well as the shops and restaurants. The hotel itself is fine, staff are freindly and helpful and the rooms are neat and tidy. Traffic noise can be a problem in the morning. The one down side was a 7% surcharge on the price quoted when booking but even taking this into account considering the location and facilities at the hotel I would stay there again.
