A great hotel in central Porto Get that restaurant guide from the hotel reception. We struggled to find resaurants without it. The ones listed in there that we tried were great.

Great hotel Pack really good walking shoes. Porto is hilly. Very hilly. But its worth walking every inch of it.

Very good hotel, particulary for the price which offered excellent value. One issue was that the hotel policy does not allow the loan of an iron to guests. This apparently is because of a guest nearly burning the place down before. This is the wrong response to this occurance. It is an international norm that you must be able to use an iron.

Smart hotel & centrally placed We looked around for restaurants and found that the area where you had most choice was down at the riverside, in the area known as " Ribeira". There are good restaurants in and around the city but a lot of them you need to get a cab to & from. We were able to walk down from the hotel through the steep city streets to the river, have a drink in a bar and then go to a restaurant nearby and then climb back through the streets both relatively easily & simply.

Pristine hotel in real neighborhood The hotel itself is good 'international' style. Local flavor comes from its setting, which is a true Porto neighborhood. The 15-minute walk to the Aliados metro stop takes you past a typical mix of beautifully restored and romantically decayed houses and through an interesting shopping district (with great single-speciality shops for buttons and wheels, for example).

A pleasant, moderm, well furnished hotel convenient for the city centre. We enjoyed our stay and our only comments would be: - that by Porto standards it is not particularly good value for money (we have stayed in hotels of similar quality in other European cities for the same cost, yet Portugal is generaly considered to be one of the cheaper countries). - the rooms are nicely decorated but the lighting makes it really difficult to read in bed.

I selected to book a room for a single person and got a spacious room with a nice twin bed (pushed together). The room could be turned into a suite - there was a door (locked) that provided access to the adjoining room. Through that door, I could hear the people in the next room but fortunately they were not too noisy and I kept the volume down on my TV too, out of courtesy. I traveled with 2 other people who got a separate room of their own which was perfectly quiet (no door linking to another room). Big bathrooms - provided most things except for shower cap. Views from the windows are not great but we didn't sit in our rooms all day. Free internet access from one shared computer in the hall - first come, first served basis. Overall, great value, new, clean and well-located hotel with helpful staff. I would recommend it to others and stay there again if I am in Oporto.
